After a great day riding the Creeper Trail, we decided to explore Abingdon- we were staying in Damascus. We were looking for a place to eat dinner and stumbled on to Summers. As we were walking down Main St., one of our party noticed rooftop umbrellas. We saw the name on the building and checked it out on-line. We walked in through the basement Wine Cellar which look extensive and then rode the elevator to the rooftop and the views were amazing. The ambiance can't be beat, very appealing look and vibe to the restaurant. Drinks, appetizers and food were all excellent. We were all amazed that this place doesn't come up easily in searches for dining in Abingdon.

Had a 7 o clock reservation got there was sat down ,waited for 20 minutes and waiters and waitresses kept walking by us and did not even acknowledge our existence.A group of 5 came in was sat down and had water brought to them almost immediately! Waited for another 10 minutes still no one. We ended up walking out the hostess did not even bother to look up from her phone to say anything. Not local friendly would not recommend!if I could give this place a big fat zero I would. Went to the tavern got sat down and had a much better experience highly recommended the tavern not this disappointing place save you’re time and money! McDonald’s has better customer service than this place.

Elisa B. provided amazing service. Her description of the food and wine were spot on. Our water and wine glasses were never empty. Elisa also had an endearing and welcoming personality.

My husband and I tried Summers for the very first time yesterday and we had the best experience!
I have 12 very serious food allergies and the host and waitress was so knowledgeable and helpful. We made reservations in advance and I listed out all of my food allergies and when we got there, the host informed me that our waitress had access to all my listed food allergies on a tablet. The host also read them off to me just to confirm they were all there.
The food was amazing! My husband had the salmon and I had the scallops along with a couple mojitos. Not only was the food amazing, but the drinks were too!
Our waitress made me feel so comfortable about my food allergies and I didn’t feel like an inconvenience at all (which some restaurants can make you feel that way). I knew she and the chef took my allergies very seriously and we will definitely be back for our monthly date nights.

Visited the historic town of Abingdon, VA, with my Daughter and Son-in-law.
The Owner of the Summers Cottage suggested that we try Summers Roof and Cellar. Well, because of rain, the Roof was out, but the Cellar turned out to be an almost magical space. The tables were set amongst a wine cellar, and the atmosphere was very laid back.
Our Server was welcoming and made us feel comfortable as well as being knowledgeable about the wines we ordered. The food was exceptionally prepared and delicious.
As it turned out, the Chef that prepared our Scallops was the Sister of our Server. I recommend this restaurant.

Amazing restaurant! We were seated into the cellar due to an evening rain. It was literally dinner and a show as the girls had a full view of the open kitchen. The food was amazing and the service was outstanding.
We did go to the rooftop bar to enjoy a drink before dinner. Great, friendly service while seated at the bar. Can't wait to dine on the roof one nice evening.
We enjoyed the salmon, scallops and mussel dishes. All tasty and served fresh. The wine list is deep and impressive. A complimentary glass of champagne for the birthday girl was a nice touch.
Go dine here without hesitation. You will leave knowing you had a special experience.
The photo is our cellar seating view of the chef's kitchen area.

A real OG, "GT Robbie" comes correct with the green tea shot. Easily the best green tea I've ever had! I was visiting town to see some musican friends play and met one of the staff out on the street who happily guided me to the delicious beverages at this cute rooftop bar nestled in the mountains of Virginia. I also had a lovely old fashioned. I highly recommend this place for great drinks and excellent service with a friendly staff. Those fellers behind the bar were fun to kick it with!

Our server was charming and had a great attitude the whole time, a little mistake was brought up about pricing on our final bill but it was resolved quickly with an apology. The food was so good, we ordered three appetizers and two entrees my partner loved her salad and recreated the lemonade vinaigrette at home :)
Overall the experience was worth it and the wine selection was fantastic!

I think this is a fairly new restaurant, so am glad we researched several sites & found it. We entered at the lower level & the friendly hostess directed us to the dining room of the rooftop where we had reservations. The dining room is fairly small with floor to ceiling windows framing lovely views of the town & mountains. The tables are well spaced & the whole room is light & bright. Our waitress was friendly & did a nice job. The manager/owner(?) stopped by to check on tables. The wine list was excellent & the food was quite good. It had a great deck which might benefit from some umbrellas or awnings for shade during warm summer evenings.
We would certainly return if in town & would highly recommend it to others.
