John was surely the best lawyer I’ve ever seen to deal with cases of false allegations regarding domestice violence that I faced recently in the Court. I met with Mr. Kiyonaga to discuss challenging a plea deal that I had made without knowing its consequences. It was a long shot, but he told me he could help me. I paid him $20,000. What ensued was a painful year of working with someone with an arrogant and volatile temperament and who largely dismissed anything I had to say. To top it off, it was abundantly clear that Mr. Kiyonaga was completely unprepared at the hearing. He was unable to support either the primary or secondary petitions he had submitted to the Court in my case. Lasting seven minutes, the hearing was over before it began and was a humiliating presentation of bumbling explanations and non sequiturs.

Great down-to-earth guy and amazing lawyer who got my reckless driving charge reduced drastically down to just a minor speeding fine. The original charge was for going 80 on a 55, but was reduced down to 64 on a 55. Would highly recommend him for any law-related defensive needs. He was easy to work with and sociable, but also no-bs and straight-to-business, and tended to all my questions and needs as a newbie of this type of business/situation.

As the lead defendant in 2 very complex federal indictments, I faced 15+ years in federal prison and fines into the millions. Three years after the first indictment in CA, I was indicted in VA on a similar charge. John Kiyonaga was appointed to represent me in VA and face the legal juggernaut of the US DOJ. My initial trepidation evaporated upon meeting John at my initial appearance in VA. I feared I would be represented by an attorney whose only concern was to end this case as quickly as possible.
