My divorce was finalized in December 2022 and I cannot express enough gratitude for Theresa Mihalik’s advice and support through this very difficult process. At this point in time, my son is doing well in school, my ex-spouse and I are working well together in co-parenting, and I am able to move on with my life as a single person. Through this process, I came to understand that Theresa’s approach was to optimize the well-being of my family as it was being reconfigured through separation and divorce as well as obtain a fair division of marital property. This consideration of all the aspects of two people going through divorce (far beyond financial) allowed the healing and recovery process to start before the divorce was finalized. Theresa provided expert legal advice and counsel in a compassionate and pragmatic manner to eliminate or minimize drama and disputes with my former spouse. I am now in a much better place, much earlier, thanks to Theresa.

Their website lists legal issues they deal with; I emailed them regarding assistance with one such issue, only to have their office email back stating they cannot assist with such an issue. Update your website then! What a waste of time in customers’ behalf.

Mediocre law firm, these people need to treat people with respect

World Class Law firm. One of the best in Northern Virginia.

I would strongly suggest staying away from this law firm. I spent a year working with them and had what I believe to be false promises and radically high billing throughout the entire process. In the end they delivered less than I ever would have expected and charged far more than what was spoken about. It really just seemed like a bait and switch from the start.

I recently needed legal representation for a custody trial and was referred to Christian Lapham. After one conversation with Christian, I was confident that this was the attorney that I wanted to represent me. He is a brilliant attorney who focuses on the best interest of your child and handles family manners with unmatched empathy and professionalism. Christian is passionate about his work, and that became increasingly apparent to me as my trial date approached. Although Christian is a proven litigator, he focuses on finding the best solution for you and your family. Christian suggested that while my ex and I prepared for trial, it would be beneficial to both parties to try to mediate in parallel. Christian was able to work with my ex's attorney to make this possible and referred us to a mediator. We were able to come to an agreement a few days before our court date that miraculously pleased both my child’s father and me. This would not have been possible without Christian’s heavy involvement in our communications during settlement negotiations. He is assertive and will be firm when necessary. I appreciated that Christian maintained his composure during emotional conversations with the opposition. I genuinely believe his demeanor and consistency is what drove us to the negotiated result. As far as cost, yes, Christian is expensive. However, the process of negotiating for time with my child was scary and unnerving, and having the support of Christian throughout was invaluable. He is efficient with his time and is fair with his billing. I appreciated that he took the time to explain the billing process to me, avoiding surprises at the end of the month. As the trial date approached and more involvement from Christian's colleagues became necessary, I was introduced to Michelle Beiber. I was impressed by Michelle's ability to jump in mid-case and support with impact. All of the colleagues I worked with were bright, passionate, and knowledgeable. I felt confident having the backing of a full and qualified legal team.
