Exactly what you want in a lawyer, makes sure you know what you need to know without any false promises. Delivered on every aspect of what he said he was going to do and had me out of the court room in less than 20 seconds. Couldn't ask for more much more than that!

Very friendly and thorough during my consultation. I will definitely pick him to represent my case in the near future! The wait time is minimal and the receptionist was nice as well.

Mr. Short has represented my husband numerous times all with positive outcomes, most recently 7/17/18. The outcome was way better than expected because of how much time Mr. Short put into the case. Mr. Short gave us recommendations on what to do before court to build the case. Mr. Short genuinely cared about my husband and made sure he had outside resources to help him overcome the problems he was having involving the case and just in everyday life. I initially contacted James for my daughter to see if he could challenge some of the sections in her separation agreement, which was filed in Virginia, so she needed a lawyer up there as she'd moved back to Texas. It was difficult to rely on someone via phone, and only two of the five attorneys I called returned my messages. I was impressed that James returned my call on a Saturday after I'd spoken with his assistant Friday afternoon. My daughter emailed her papers and set an appointment for a few days later. James said there might some possibilities for argument, but the cost would likely outweigh the return. He was careful to explain everything in layman's language instead of legalese, was patient, kind and took as much time as necessary to ensure that both of us understood everything about the process. I appreciated there was never any pressure or implications that he could get more than the agreement stipulated or recommendation we should take it into a courtroom, although I believe he could have done that and enriched himself at our expense. James was completely above board and I felt good that he'd given my daughter the sound advice. I'm very impressed with his attitude, and I wouldn't hesitate to call him again if I need legal services. I only wish he practiced in my city.

James Short just represented my son in Chesapeake, April 5, 2018. We are very pleased with the outcome. He explained how the courts look at these type of cases and what will usually happen. We were prepared when we went to court and my son was able to go to rehab and get time served. It is wonderful to have a lawyer who keeps in contact with the family and visits with their client to see how they are doing and keep us updated. He truly cares about his clients and their future.
