Laila Raheen represented me during my divorce, and did a fantastic job of it. I started with another lawyer at the same firm, and when she departed I was lucky enough to have my case transferred to Ms. Raheen. She took great care to understand my situation and my desire to work out a reasonable settlement without being adversarial. She was always available when I needed to communicate with her, and explained things in detail when I needed to understand them clearly. She negotiated skillfully with my wife's lawyer, who attempted to bully and bluff on too many occasions, and by her hard work we were able to settle without going to court, resulting in an agreement that was to my advantage, without being harsh or unfair to my now ex-wife. At all times, I felt like she was working for my best interests, in comparison to my wife's lawyer, who often seemed to be steering his client in such a way as to maximize his billable hours. In addition to doing a great job, Ms. Raheen was very pleasant, personable, and easy to work with. In all this, she was ably assisted by her associate Jenny Huchler, and her paralegal Taryn Arp, both of whom were dedicated, skilled, and always on top of things. In fact, I was very impressed by the culture of the firm (Livesay & Myers), since all the attorneys I met there seemed to support each other in their work and take the responsibility of mentoring junior associates very seriously. I would wholeheartedly recommend Laila and her firm for any work that needs doing.

Laila Raheen was the lawyer who handled my divorce case at Livesay & Myers. My first meeting with her was my initial consultation regarding my case. She explained what the divorce process in Virginia involved, as well as allowed me to ask questions regarding my case. I came out of that first meeting having a very good feeling about her and decided to hire her that day. I liked that she was professional, very smart and not easily shaken by events or circumstances, just the lawyer I wanted! She clearly explained the divorce process and was very patient with me, as well as all of my questions. Livesay & Myers have been working my case for over 2 ½ to 3 years as it was very complex and due to reconciliation a few times. I went through 4 Lawyers and Laila was last, best and bought this painful process to an end. In the very last phase, she was Lawyer, Mediator, Judge and Jury and all was very necessary. All know the last phase of Divorce is taxing and I did not know how things would end; therefore, depended on her expertise and she came through.
