Mr. Byler is a great man and a wonderful lawyer. He’s taking excellent care of my son’s lawsuit while making his health wellness and recovery a priority. My son suffered a brain injury during a car accident and Mr. BYLER is very mindful of how to speak with him and approach things so that he understands and doesn’t feel pressured.

Mr small is AMAZING. He listened to me throughly and stayed in contact. Even with a full caseload he updated me frequently about my case. Hopefully I don’t need an attorney again but if I do he will be my first call.

I did a phone consult and completed all of the paperwork. Was advised that a personal injury lawsuit that had not yet been determined would not need to be included because they were no funds for settlement yet. To me, not knowing the law, that made sense because we're only looking at debt and income and ability to pay at that time. I found out a few years later I was incorrectly advised by attorney Tillman. I have reached out multiple times but she is on leave. Now the settlement is tied up because the bankruptcy has to be reopened which is much more expensive than filing an original bankruptcy. And when I went to court, I was expecting her as she had not said that she was not going to attend . And a young man represented me in court from the office . It wasn't the fact that it was another person, just not that I had been privy to that information . Very disappointed

People are very nice there I can give them that. But their business practices are horrible!!!! The communications is slim to none. Try to get a TRO submitted since August!!! Everytime I call it's an excuse why it wasn't done. I even had to do my own leg work to find out information to submit for the TRO. Hoping that would move it along. I still have yet to recevie a update, message, letter, email, nothing absolutely nothing. This has been mentally draining and scaring. I know where I stand with them and now since it is December. I am starting to think they will just hope I will stop calling for a update.

Obviously the Good Reviews for this Law Firm are for their work and results on the Civil Court side of things; Not the Criminal Side. Their criminal defense D. Smith attorney is not experienced or "known" in the Virginia Beach legal circles, therefore he will sacrifice, or sell you out to get his feet wet in those waters. You pay him thousands of dollars and he acts like the client has to do all the work. Very Unethical practices.

I wish I could give this law firm a negative star. We retained Derrick Smith. Who has shown a lack of communication and effortlessness. Our faith in him to get the job done is little to none. My experience has been mentally draining as well as financially.

Very poor communication and nothing trust worthy, passionate or stellar about this law firm. Do not invest your money, risk your freedom or jeopardize your life with Derek Smith. He is inexperienced and often very wishy washy. Will sell you out and DOES NOT do any work for your defense. Run!
