I am a director of a young mountaineering club in Seattle area. Our club consulted Jason, on a pro-bono basis, on topics of general liability, club safety policy aspects, and legal issues around minors. First of all, Jason's willingness to serve non-profit organizations for free speaks a great about his character. Further, I was impressed by professionalism of his approach. He listens closely, explains details, and ensures that as a client you understand the important aspects of legal implications. This is especially easy because Jason knows how to speak regular people language and not the lawyer language. It is also important to recognize Jason's knowledge level and experience. He seemed well versed in areas we brought up, providing many relevant examples. This says a lot about level of experience. Our relationship is still on-going. Jason helped us recently with our bankruptcy case, very supportive and informative. gives you all the facts (pros and cons) to better your decision. Also, he's got patience, easy to reach whether via phone or email. He does meet client outside of his office, like in our case, he met with us in a coffee shop on a saturday afternoon. I met Jason outside his normal practice. He is also a volunteer lawyer to help non-profits through a program in Washington. He helped our fledgling non-profit get all of our paperwork in order and to help us understand our process in the various applications to achieve our 501c3 status. Jason answered all my questions and although I felt that I could not understand what the forms were asking of me, he took the time to explain all the details in "normal" language. Jason came into our lives via a recommendation from a mutual friend who had worked with Jason. My wife and I had been experiencing some problems with our mortgage escrow due to the careless work of the people who processed our loan. Basically, our bank had not calculated our escrow correctly, so a shortfall occurred. They then used the wrong property tax information to calculate the new escrow, and our monthly payment rose almost 25% to make up for the incorrectly calculated shortfall. We laid out our situation for Jason and he really listened, asked thoughtful questions, and then advised us of our options. He told us that we had a case and then asked what we would like the end result to be. Since we felt that our bank had provided us with a defective product, we felt that they should either reimburse us for the closing costs or refinance our loan at a lower interest rate. Warning us of the cost and time it might take to litigate, Jason encouraged us to first contact the bank and to also lodge a complaint with the Washington State Department of Financial Institutions. We did just that and later also lodged a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. After stalling for a while, the bank has contacted us and now wants to make some sort of offer. Jason advised us to go, but cautioned us not to sign anything. We will definitely run the bank's offer by Jason before we agree to anything. When we're in the market again for a house or an investment property, we will absolutely be calling on Jason Cruz to make sure that everything is in order.

i needed a last minute advice on an urgent matter with my rental property. Jason was very accommodating and flexible with his weekend time. Needless to say, he was very knowledgeable and thorough. Great to work with!
