When I contacted Megan Bent in November of 2021, my life was on the brink of a dramatic and shocking change. I was scared, angry, frustrated, and confused and just trying to take care of my two kids. I contacted other attorneys and only received negative input. “Maybe you’ll lose your kids, maybe your kids will have to change schools, maybe you’ll lose some rights as a parent.” This wasn’t what any father wants to hear when his relationship with his children is at stake. My kids and I were looking for place of peace and understanding. This was all now in jeopardy with the divorce looming. I went on a search for a compassionate attorney. A person who didn’t buy into the idea that dad gets whatever he gets and comes second to the mother. Someone who looked out for the best interests of the kids. I needed someone that believed in family, and the best interests of the kids. I found that person in Megan Bent. From the initial contact Megan eased my mind right away when we first spoke over the phone. Megan gave me her background of working in Divorce Law and Child Custody and explained my rights up front. She never made me any promises and I did not go into this blindly, but I did go into process prepared. Megan was with me every step of the way. There were moments when I wanted to give up. There were moments when I was beyond angry and frustrated. Megan always listened and gave me her expert advice, but the decision was always mine and she made that clear. During the hardest year of my life, I knew I had someone who was on my side to help me understand and cope not only with the loses in my life but with a compassionate heart and help me understand what I was doing for the kids was the right approach. Megan was able to understand the dynamics at play in my case and understood what was truly in the best interest of my kids. Due to Megan’s hard work, extensive knowledge, and toughness with opposing counsel, we were able to secure the future for my kids that they deserve. There are no guarantees in this process or in life, but there is one thing I knew I could count on and that was Megan doing everything in her power to help me and my kids stay together and maintain our bond. I will never forget the hard work Megan and her staff provided me. They were quick to respond to my questions. They were all kind and attentive over the phone, or via email. Divorce is something that more often than not is a difficult transition for those involved. My divorce was difficult to say the least. I faced many obstacles and would’ve been floundering through the process without attorney Megan Bent. She made an unbearable process manageable. She was there every step of the way and guided me through a process I would’ve never made it through alone. I felt as though she treated my children and I as individuals instead of just another case. She checked on us regularly to make sure everything was clear and outlined and what I could expect next.
