Jonathan was HIRED to obtain a divorce for a friend of mine. He instructed me to co-sign his retainer agreement of $2300 just in case my friend was unable to pay. $18,000 dollars (this was the amount Swartz said my friend or I owed him by that time) later my friend found out that Swartz hadn't even filed a DISSOLUTION of MARRIAGE to the Superior Court of Mason County. And we found out that he was working for the defendant too, also, by hearing her ask him why she was paying him money. And he let the defendant totally strip the contents of the home against the court orders. My friend turned him into the Washington State Bar, and Swartz still tried to charge me the amount listed below..... Then of all things he turned me into Grimm Collections of Tumwater to obtain his 'money' for DOING nothing. I had paid him a $2300 retainer to start the case, which I had forgiven. But still tried to charge me an additional $4831.94 dollars. We turned him into Grimm Collections also, and the matter was dropped My friend had to represent himself in court many months later by filing a Nunc Pro Tunc motion with the Mason County Superior Court to legally finalize his divorce. Thank you Commissioner Sauerlander. Who I think could still remember the mess caused by Jonathan Swartz. This was many years ago and I was reminded of this crooked attorney by sorting through my friends paperwork (RIP my dear friend) and came across the correspondence between Swartz. the Bar and my friend. Then it all came back to me. He should have been DISBARRED in 2011. Perhaps he has changed, but watch your wallet closely if you hire him.

Jonathan Swartz is an extremely knowledgeable and compassionate attorney. His slogan, "Practicing Law with Compassion" is very fitting for the type of service I have witnessed from this firm over the years. Jonathan is not one of those lawyers who practices law for the money. He does it so he can help people overcome difficult situations in their lives by navigating the complicated legal system and helping them reach amicable resolutions as often as possible. Jonathan makes every effort to settle issues out of court. I have read the review by the person who says Jonathan has no integrity and I wholeheartedly disagree. It is possible that there was a human error or delay in getting that person's refund but I can state with certainty that it was not because of any lack of integrity or good business sense. People aren't perfect and making a mistake doesn't mean someone lack's integrity. I wonder if the person who posted that review has ever made a mistake? If so, does he or she lack integrity? I doubt it. My experience with Mr. Swartz and his entire staff is that they are competent, compassionate and eager to help people in need and I highly recommend their services to anyone I know who is need of legal representation.

I had one meeting with an associate. I was dissatisfied with the responsiveness of the firm so I requested a refund of my initial consultation fee. I was told, via email, by the associate I would receive a refund check. It is now 60 days later and I have not received the refund as promised and the firm is ignoring my requests for the status of the refund check.

Jonathan is an eminently professional, extremely competent, reliable and helpful attorney and person! He carried through in my divorce case in many difficult and challenging situations, using his expertise, wisdom and kindness to make what seemed impossible into a task that could be handled with a minimum of pain for all involved. What is equally important is that he truly cares about the people he serves, giving not only very knowledgeable legal services, but also being willing to invest his time and thought in assisting and advising his clients and their families as they go through difficult and challenging legalities and experiences. He is compassionate and concerned and "goes the extra mile" in serving. He has chosen a staff and working partners who live up to the the same very high standards he sets for himself. An individual can go to Jonathan Swartz for legal help and never fear that he will be disappointed! Jon is a respected, competent and honorable lawyer, and a person who invests deeply in his clients and his work. I recommend him without the slightest reservation!!

I have been a client of JS&A for several years in a family law matter(s). Although my experience with court rulings have not been favorable, none of it is the fault of Jon's. Without Jon and his empathy and compassion for me as well as my children I don't know how I would have managed to handle the situation I have found myself in. Jon is the rare attorney that is strong in his convictions, handles pressure well, and is hesitant to engage in mud slinging and personal attacks even though opposing counsel is well versed in those tactics. His door has always been open to me. Jon conducts himself with honor, placing the needs of his clients above all. His paralegal Cheryl is top notch and mirrors Jonathan's commitment to finding justice in a system where justice is elusive at best. It is obvious that Jon and Cheryl have gone the extra mile for me. They care about me as a person and a father.

Mr. Swartz is a fabulous attorney. He knows the law and walked me through the entire divorce process. He gave me the facts and was honest and forth coming with all the important information I needed to know. I knew I was in very trustworthy and capable hands. His staff was excellent. They kept me informed of court dates and proceedings. I couldn't have hired a better lawyer. I would recommend him to anyone that needs a knowledgeable and excellent attorney.

I must admit that as a rule, I am not usually satisfied or pleased with the services provided by people - especially these days. Jonathan Swartz however, is a pleasant exception to this rule! Jonathan was hired to help with a fairly complicated child support issue that my husband was facing. After contact with more attorneys than I care to remember, I found Jonathan! What a difference! Not only did he actually listen to all of the circumstances surrounding the issues, he was full of very useful information, suggestions, and different approaches we could take to solve the problems. It is my opinion that Jonathan went above and beyond the call of duty when it came to research and preparation for our case. I am more than confident that had we chosen any one of the many attorneys I had previously contacted, we never would have received the excellent representation that we did with Jonathan. Jonathan was, and is, indeed not only an amazing lawyer, but an amazing person. Not only was he knowledgeable, responsive, and trustworthy, but he added an element that I had most desperately been looking for in a family law attorney. When I think of Jonathan, I think of teamwork at the peak of which it is meant to be. I think of flexibility, compassion, morality, and respect. I am not just happy to have him go through such an emotional and difficult event with me, but I am proud of him. It is obvious to me that being an attorney is not just a job to him. It is his life. He is a rare individual whose heart still beats after dealing with the psychological and emotional strains of working in an industry that is in itself an exhausting endeavor. If I needed to bombard him with questions, he took it in stride, never complained, and answered within a reasonable amount of time. If I wanted to do the heavy work, he would oblige. If I wanted him to handle it, he would oblige. If I needed something explained three different ways because I didn't understand, it wasn't an issue. He would not only advise me as to his view from a legal standpoint, but would take into account my own perspective and needs as the individual that would be living with the results after his work was done. There is no doubt in my mind that Jonathan cares about what he does. From a legal, moral, or social standpoint. I was never led to feel as though my case or questions were an inconvenience, nor that I was only a means for monetary gain. As I navigated through such a difficult process, his steadfastness and solidarity was a presence I would not want to have ever been without. There may not be white knights anymore, but that's only because they've given up the glorified armor for a pocket guide to the Constitution.

Jonathan did an excellent job of defending my wife against what we believed were false charges. He believed in her, and used the contacts and friends at his dispense in order to gain a sympathetic ear, and eventually have the charges dismissed.
