She was with me from the beginning of my crazy two years of divorce with a long term relationship including children, money, spousal abuse, health issues, addiction, etc. Finally complete. Karen got everything I wanted and more, including not wasting my time and the courts time.

So, back in 2020, I found out through my 7-year-old daughter that she had been molested by her 50-year-old next-door-neighbor, whom her father has had let her be babysat by said neighbor since we split up. Her father never said a word to me about it for three months. I hired Karen Unger for a $3000 retainer to help me sort stuff out with my daughter's father, since in my opinion, he had been extremely neglectful in his duty to tell me, her mother, let alone the police. Karen filed the documents she had deemed necessary for our case. The judge declined them, Karen emailed me as such, and I asked her (through the same email) what steps she would recommend going forward. She never responded. I really don't feel like a few pieces of paperwork turned in to the court should cost $3000. Like, I could have done that for free for myself. I feel not only cheated financially, but cheated from the perspective of my (at the time) 7-year-old child who had things done to her that no one, especially a *CHILD* should ever experience. She was a terrible lawyer to me and my daughter, and as much as I admired her at first for her drive, I would never hire another lawyer literally ever again, because of this and a quite a few other experiences.

I definitely do not recommend this person. Only available on her terms, and left me in court TWICE to go to another hearing. This is a take the money and run lawyer who did literally nothing for me.

I hired Karen in October of 2020. Karen was able to work a miracle and settled my case outside of a trial. I would definitely recommend her to anyone that needs a divorce/ custody lawyer. She is an excellent attorney.

I contacted Karen Unger's office to inquire about hiring a lawyer to get a restraining order. I talked to Lori, dont know what her position is. She said I could just do it myself at the courthouse. I said I knew that but was told by a lawyer in another county that I might want to use a lawyer to keep certain info private. She got really condecsending and said "that's ridiculous, who told you that? You can't just file a restraining order without the judge or the accused knowing why." I said I'm not trying to hide it from the judge, I just don't want the sensitive info public. She then said, " Oh come on! Do you really think someone will just go through your files and read them?" Her voice was loud and treated me like I was an idiot, almost laughing at me. I'm not a lawyer, I was just inquiring because of advise I got. I don't need to be treated this way and will never call this law office again.

I agree with the previous Post by Evan. I had Ms. Unger represent me on two different matters over the years (luckily both were pretty much slam-dunks. I paid the retainer, we went to court - matters were settled). If you do not mind an attorney with a 'small town' mentality and the good ol'boy getter' done attitude then Ms. Unger is the attorney for you. Ms. Unger's reputation within the community as an attorney is one that leans towards getting the case settled over drink's during happy hour. If you have a simple case there is nothing wrong with a happy hour attorney! it cost's less to litigate over drink's than in the court room. If you have a need for serious representation do yourself a favor and retain an attorney that has a reputation for being ethical, honest, trustworthy, and organized. All characteristic's I found lacking in Ms. Unger.

Karen Unger is a good laywer because she is "in" the establishment. Port Angeles is a small town and all the lawyers know the other laywers and Judges. Karen was an attorney for my Daughter after an accident at school. She was also the attorney for my daughters Mom during several custody and child support hearings. If you are in a custody dispute of Family law she is a good attorney as far as knowing how to extend the process. Unger is probably the most unorganized attorney in Port Angeles which helped my attorney a great deal.Having said that, she is effective in making her client feel good because of her loud and obnoxious way she portrays the other party. Most of the Judges are used to her antics and poor manners and do not pay much attention to her claims. The best thing about hiring Karen Unger is her ability to cut deals with her friends and that is why you see other attorneys rating her favorably. Make no mistake about it, most of your case is decided over a cocktail at lunch. You do not stand a chance in hell if she has any reason not to like you and if you are a male then the odds are you don't want her as your attorney. Specifically, Karen postpones meetings, delays court dates and settles most cases by costing the other party more money than the case is worth. If you have a case that can be won in this way, Karen is a great attorney for you.

Karen just represented my boyfriend and did an excellent job. I think she put a lot of effort into a very difficult case. She was intelligent, forceful but respectful and professional.
