Act Now! Don’t wait any longer! Mr. Berens will surpass every expectation. I reached out to Mr. Berens for legal advise regarding my military career. I was facing UOTHC for something I didn’t commit. Mr. Berens or “Mike” heard me, cared for me, and advised me right away! We then met face to face. At the time, I was hesitant due to pricing on lawyers. I can not say enough about Mike except that I had experience other Large Firms and local attorneys and was very refreshing to work with Mike. I am a Major in the US Army, a husband, a father of four, and a proud mustang (NCO to Officer) with over 18 years of service. Mike hands down has gone above and beyond what I would have expect for a military lawyer. Not only did he travel with me to Washington DC for a board that was over 2 days but he continuously worked the case before and after. His attention to detail was outstanding and was able to add a second military lawyer when the military was saying otherwise. I was facing a less then ideal discharge and was able to secure a honorable with the possibility of future retention. I would not have felt as comfortable with the board if it wasn’t for mike.

If you have stumbled upon this review you are more than likely looking for an attorney to defend you against UCMJ actions or another form of Military non-punitive action. I would say look no further Mr. Michael J. Berens aka "Mike" is the only attorney you need. Speaking from my personal experience he is a Veteran who speaks the JAG language, but knows how to cut through the bullshit and red tape. Nothing in this world is free and that includes justice, do not count on the Military appointed attorneys to have your back. When it matters the most and you have everything to lose no matter the cost, Berens Law Firm is who you want watching your six. This is coming from a two time Combat Veteran Master Sergeant with 19 years of service, who was facing a separation board. I highly recommend Mike to anyone facing military legal action. He is responsive, highly experienced with military law, and truly concerned about you as a person, not just a client. At the end of a 21 year career, with an approved retirement date within months, I became the subject of a 15-6 investigation for an exhaustive list of allegations from fostering a toxic work environment to preventing combat action badges from being awarded to unit members during our recent deployment. Although TDS was helpful in explaining all the possible outcomes, the officer did not voice concern over the investigation since it would not affect my actual approved retirement date and suggested a wait and see what happens approach. Mike was immediately responsive and accommodating meeting me near JBLM despite being located in Seattle. He spent a great deal of time listening to the allegations and what had occurred. He asked straight forward questions and worked with me to define what exactly I was looking for with legal representation and outlined the expected cost for the initial representation and additional costs if the case continued down multiple possible avenues. As the investigation progressed, Mike was there every step. He helped me formulate responses to the investigating officer's questions. He met with me prior and attended my in person interview with the investigating officer. He was truly concerned about me as a person when the interview did not go well, no fault of Mike. He assisted me with responding to e-mails when I started having difficulty with attachments due to having to use guest accounts because I no longer had computer access at the unit. He helped me formulate a response to the GOMOR the investigating officer recommended and submitted a separate response to the action authority as my attorney. In the end, we had the best possible outcome with every allegation being unfounded and the proposed GOMOR being overruled. I cannot thank Mike enough for his work, willingness to care about a high stakes outcome when others did not, and treating me as a friend and not just another client. I highly recommend Mike to anyone facing military administrative or legal action.
