Kathryn was the first attorney who truly made a difference and followed through on what she advised. I hired her following the divorce & child custody hearing after my prior attorney retired. Kathryn knows King County family law in and out and when best to act to get the best results. I needed an Attorney with experience in Domestic Violence cases and she was the first attorney to see the matters at hand for what was truly happening and give me honest, sound legal to advise. I'm extremely grateful for Kathryns's work ethic, dedication and passion for what she does.

When I first realized it was time for me to get a lawyer… I was very nervous and skeptical of what to expect, and what I was paying for. Then I met Kathryn Fields at Elise Buie. Since day one, she has made me finally feel at ease. I have been taken advantage of and bullied by my ex-spouse and his girlfriend for far too long. I didn’t know the law, or my rights. Kathryn, being extremely educated and knowledgeable in family law, guided, mentored and empowered me. I found Kathryn through a friend. I had already made several calls looking for an attorney to help me through what I was sure would be a difficult divorce. All the calls I made we met with “this is what we charge an hour” and then the touting of all their accomplishments. With Kathryn the first words I heard were of compassion for both myself and my children. In our first meeting she patiently and knowledgeably answered all of my questions and I trusted her almost immediately. The divorce went as expected and she kept me on track with both a sense of humor and by telling me the truth whether I wanted to hear it or not. It’s not something I would want to go through again, but if I do I know who to call.

Kathryn was diligent and really helped to navigate my case in a fair and realistic manner. She was very responsive and worked hard for a very positive outcome for me. I appreciated her ability to keep all parties on track including the opposing counsel. Had she not been so on the ball I really believe this case would have drug out much longer than it needed to. I will forever appreciate the dedication she had to my case.

Kathryn has a no nonsense approach and knows when the right time is to lay down the law and get results. If you need someone who really has your back... She should be your attorney. If you are just starting this process, she will make sure that, "what has happened to me does not happen to you". Just hire her!

I hired Kathryn amidst the worst struggle my family and I have ever been through. She instantly made me feel secure and explained to me what I needed to know and laid out a plan of action. Kathryn was consulted for a small-claims case where we needed direction and counseling on how we needed to present ourselves and our case in court. Kathryn was forthright and helped us out thoroughly. She listened patiently, considered all the factors and issues and made certain we express our point and miss no details. Katherine is very knowledgeable and was able to get to the root of my case in short time. I felt like I could trust her and we were able to talk freely. I hired Kathryn in 2012 for post decree matters. Kathryn is a very experienced attorney, very well versed in WA family law, and seems to be an advocate for her clients. However, after about a year and a half, my experience is that she mishandled my case simply by not handling it at all. She and her paralegal repeatedly promised to me in writing and via phone that things were "being worked on" and that my case was at the top of her priority list. This recurred for months throughout late 2014 and 2015. I gave her the benefit of the doubt for way too long, likely because prior to this behavior she'd been really wonderful. In my time as a client, I could see that Kathryn is highly disorganized and has not embraced technology which causes gross inefficiencies in her office and practice. She does not use a proper client billing system either and it's not exactly a confidence builder for a client, in my opinion. I believe she takes on way more than she can realistically handle, and in addition, she seems to be understaffed. It became a recipe for disaster. Unless you have an expensive and active trial going, she's possibly not going to make you a priority, although she or her paralegal will tell you differently. I moved on when it became apparent her lack of work was a major source of stress for my family. Our new attorney then accomplished more in a few weeks than Kathryn attempted in almost an entire year. That was my family's experience with Kathryn V Fields.

I was really fortunate to have hired Kathryn Fields as my attorney. She was very knowledgeable and amazing at her job. I felt really confident about her representing me in court, and she always put me first and made feel very conformable, talking to her about anything. It's not about money with Kathryn, she really cares about her clients and their families, and in making sure that her client needs are met 100%. I would highly recommend Kathryn to anyone of my family or friends.

She takes the time to explain situations, to indicate with her years of experience where something is likely to lead but *also* where it could lead and how to prepare for it. She will tell you how to minimize extraneous costs, what are *Big* things and what are not-so-big things. She truly truly cares about her clients and you absolutely feel like you've got a pro on your side. She is incredibly thorough and is sheer competence in the courtroom.
