On a Thursday I discovered I was a minority shareholder about to be washed out of a ten year investment by a merger valued in the tens of millions of dollars. I thought I needed a litigator. A few years ago, my business partner and I were party to a lawsuit in Federal Court, in Colorado. We had used Scott Wagner at Hale and Wagner for a small matter a couple of years before that and were impressed with him, so asked him to take our case. Even though he practices in Wisconsin, and this case was in Federal Court in Denver, Colorado, and involved depositions all over the United States, and this case was not the type of law he normally practices, he agreed to take it on. After three years of many hearings and depositions, I got the opportunity to see Scott in action in a lot of different settings, and while I can’t disclose the results per a confidentiality order, suffice it to say that the case never went to trial, and what Scott and the other staff at Hale and Wagner did while up against a large “white stocking” law firm with a lot more resources, was something I didn’t think could be done. He didn’t blink, and we walked away completely vindicated and very satisfied with the results. Since that time, I ALWAYS call Scott for any legal issue I have, and while they mostly involve matters in other states, and are not things he can personally handle for me, his advice to me is always invaluable, and he has always been able to find me the right attorney in whatever state I need someone in.
