Gregory Cade is by far the most compassionate and driven attorney I’ve ever met. My mother was a textile mill worker in the ‘60s and was exposed to insane amounts of asbestos dust on a daily basis. She was diagnosed with peritoneal mesothelioma earlier this year and we decided to take legal recourse. Mr. Cade was recommended to us by a family friend. We were instantly certain he was going to be able to help my mother and we were absolutely right. In less than four months, my mother was given a far greater amount of money as compensation than we’d expected, all thanks to Gregory Cade’s amazing skills and competence.

This exceptional attorney has made a very painful time more bearable for me and my family. While I wasn’t the one who needed legal assistance, my grandfather, who had been an insulator for most of his life, was diagnosed with pleural mesothelioma and we encouraged him to take legal recourse. We were astonished by Gregory Cade’s display of compassion and genuine care for my grandfather’s health. After our first consultation, he assured us that he and his legal team would do all in their power to submit the claim as soon as possible so that we wouldn’t have to wait for too long. Indeed, our expectations were greatly exceeded and my grandfather received compensation in the shortest time possible for such a complex and time-consuming case. Mr. Cade, as well as the other members of the ELG team, are amazing professionals whose service are invaluable to asbestos victims and we highly recommend other people injured by asbestos to take action, too. Recovering compensation is easier than you might think with the help of an experienced legal team such as the one at ELG!

I would like to thank Gregory Cade for his excellent legal assistance and also to the ELG team for everything they did for me. Without the guidance of these amazing people, my asbestos claim wouldn’t have stood a chance and I certainly wouldn’t have got the compensation Mr. Cade was able to obtain in such a short time. He is a highly experienced and well-informed attorney with a remarkable work ethic who will not settle for less than you deserve. Mr. Cade is also a great listener. I was very stressed before our first consultation because I knew how complicated personal injury cases can be, especially asbestos ones. However, he calmly presented me all the legal options I had and helped me make the best decision. I’d recommend him to anyone who was affected by asbestos exposure without hesitation!

I would like to begin by saying that Gregory A. Cade is an exceptional attorney. I was an insulator for a good 12 years and though I obviously knew I was working with asbestos, I had no idea how dangerous it is. I was shocked when my doctor told me I have mesothelioma in 2015 but at least it was not very advanced. My family and I decided to seek compensation and we were extremely lucky to come across Gregory A. Cade, who was very eager to help us from the start. Thanks to his professionalism and competence, my case was a success and I was soon able to recover a significant amount of money. I would definitely recommend his services to anyone who needs legal representation.

Gregory Cade is by far the most diligent professional I’ve ever met and I couldn’t be more grateful for having chosen him to work on my case. His knowledge, willingness to help and compassion are truly boundless. I’ve recently been diagnosed with mesothelioma but I didn’t want to file a lawsuit initially because I knew how time-consuming the whole process could be. However, I had to do something. I couldn’t keep pace with the cost of my treatment anymore, so I decided to take legal action, eventually.

I live in Huntsville, Al and needed a lawyer who was able to mediate a situation for me. I had tried for four years to settle a warranty issue with a builder and was unable to settle. Mr. Turner worked with me and their attorneys and reached the settlement I deserved. Mr. Turner kept in contact with me and always returned my e-mails and phone calls. Anyone needing a great lawyer should call Mr. Turner.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Birmingham, Alabama?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
