South Oak Title in Pelham, AL was hired to do my title work on the closing of my home in 2019. South oak was supposed to review all of the title information to make sure that we were clear to close. I was given the OK to close however several months later I received a letter from HUD stating that I owe them $65,000. This should’ve all come up during the closing process when they were reviewing the documents but it did not. South Oak did not properly review my documents and now it it causing me to have to pay a lot of money out of pocket that I do not have. South Oak has refused to take responsibility for this action and I’m very upset and I’m going to make sure that some responsibility is held. I should be refunded for the charges since an incomplete and negligent job was performed, as well as given some assistance with the repayment as this should have been taken care of by them at the closing table. Not to mention that the buyers of my home DO NOT have a clear title, so if they ever wanted to sell their house, they would be unable to.
