First off, Shortell Law LLC doesn’t even deserve 1 star. As a bystander for a family member that recently went through a legal child custody battle, Shortell Law falsely advertised their latest October 2024 “Big win”. The “facts” they presented in their case is so falsely obscured, it is blowing everyone (who’s been involved or has knowledge about the case) minds. If you are wanting to hire this law firm, I’d suggest finding one that doesn’t completely and bluntly lie about the actual facts. Our family has actual proof of the FACTS. This law firm is clearly wanting money no matter the cost or situation. Be prepared to be belittled and lied about if your case gets on their main website. All in all, we are very relieved of the outcome but we do not suggest this law firm.

Within 10-months (including unnecessary delays) Sarah finalized our case victoriously. Sarah is top notch and means business! Sarah Kathryn started representing me in my custody case on 08/19/24 and I'm grateful to know she will be representing me in indefinitely! She handles cases in family law, business, employment, probate, guardianship and conservatorship, financial protective orders, landlord-tenant, and estate planning. My original custody order was 8 years ago and since then many things have changed for me and in my life. Including the fact I no longer lived in my home state of Alaska and the fact that my child has lived with my husband and I for almost 3 years in Massachusetts while seeing his father in Alaska for visitation. The arrangement I made with my child's father outside of court was working for years and I thought I built a great relationship with him so I didn't feel the need to update the court system until he decided not to send him home to me after this summers visitation. When it was time to send him home to start his next school year his father decided 12 hours before the flight I bought for him left that he wasn't going to send him home to me and that I had no say so what so ever. Mind you, this was also on my 33rd birthday, one I will now never forget. The next three weeks were brutal to say the least. I've never cried so much in my life but Sarah jumped in with both feet and began working quickly and with intent. She's truly amazing. She submitted a motion to modify custody with an expedited component to it and it was granted pretty quickly. She saw the urgency to get my son home ASAP and I will always be so grateful for what she was able to accomplish. If you're deciding on an attorney, stop wasting time and call Sarah or Caitlin to complete a consultation with them. I promise you, you wont regret it!
