After contacting Zalena and speaking over options, it was clear there was no one else to trust with this process. She was thorough and on top of the process from beginning to end. I would recommend her services to anyone who asked! Thank you again!

I had begun my Court case journey with Zalena during the early 1990's. My divorce took about two years to resolve, and child custody continued another five years before I received full custody of my daughter. The case was very difficult and complex at times mainly due to the financial means of my ex's family and the legal representation they were able to obtain. Zelena and her team had to contend with a couple of different high-powered AZ law firms in order to get the matter settled via the Court. Zelena was determined to obtain an outcome that would serve both my daughter and me over the long haul. We were eventually able to move on with our daily lives uninterrupted from court proceedings. This would not have happened without Zalena's tireless efforts with my case. Please remember during the 1990's, representing a guy was probably a bit more difficult at that time than it probably is today. Fast forward 25 years later, I'm a member of the Arizona State Retirement System and I begin looking into retiring, it was during that time that I found out that the Domestic Relations Order (DRO) was being interpreted by ASRS differently than what was intended. Lucky for me Zalena was still practicing, I called her up and discussed the issue, she refiled to correct the DRO and ASRS had the updated document within a month or so which was very timely because the Courts were closed for physical entry during this time due to the covid pandemic. I guess the most important thing that I would like you to know about Zalena is that she won't be out worked.

Tiffany is absolutely an incredible attorney. She is very skillful and knew exactly what to do with my case. Tiffany is professional, quick at responding to any questions that I had either through email or phone call, and just made me feel a sense of relief ever since the beginning. During my trial she was very organized, extremely thourough, and knew what actions to take. Her pricing is fair and her firm is very friendly and clean. I would recommend her to absolutely anyone that is taking on a stressful situation, as I believe she is the best! I am so thankful for all she did for me and I am happy for what my future holds thanks to her.

Prior to hiring Tiffany Scott to assist with my child custody case, I had a total of 15 consultations with attorneys from all over the valley. I felt confident with my decision to move forward with Tiffany for many reasons. The #1 reason was because I felt she was the most genuine and transparent about my options and possible outcomes, while others pretended they could guarantee the outcomes I wanted, which you find out very quickly into a family law case that it is not possible. At every stage of the process, Tiffany took the time to provide me with every possible scenario so that I could make the decision I felt was best for myself and my son. It was critical to me to always have a realistic picture of what I was getting into and what it meant for my son's future relationship with me and with his father. Another reason I appreciate working with Tiffany so much is because she immediately provided tips on how to save money on unnecessary attorney costs, such as minimizing emails and phone call costs by asking as many questions as possible at once. As a single mother, saving costs was very important to me and other attorneys I had consultations with suggested to immediately pursue temporary orders, which ultimately would have been a costly and unnecessary step in my case. Additionally, there were not any minimum hours billed for physical court appearances while one attorney I spoke with charged a minimum of 3 hours for court appearances. A 3rd reason I loved working with Tiffany is because of her timely response to my emails and phone calls; and her clear, detailed and effective communication, which I felt ultimately saved me costs by minimizing back and forth emails or calls. I could go on for a few more paragraphs on why I will undoubtedly hire Tiffany again and refer Tiffany to anyone looking for a family law attorney.

I have been through 6 lawyers in the past as I have a very complicated family law case. Among all of them, Atty White is the best to do it. If you need someone to do the right thing for you, he is the man. He knows my case inside out and will advocate for what is right. He is God sent. I can’t say enough good things about my experience with this Lawyer. He was able to achieve our goal in less than 1 month what the past 2 lawyers could not in 2 years. If you want quality, he is him.

Austin was incredible. After meeting with several lawyers, I chose Austin to represent me in my divorce. Over 1.5 years of proceedings, Austin was extremely responsive, fair and knowledgeable. Always had my best interest in mind, including staying budget-friendly! Much appreciated and already referred one person because of Austin's outstanding service.

I was hesitant about getting a lawyer for a citation I received. However I was concerned about it having the potential to negatively affect my job and security clearance. Millar Law had great reviews so I went ahead with them. Chris, Ashley and the rest of the staff were very helpful, courteous and on point. A successful outcome in the end. I’d most certainly recommend them.

I wish I was able to give more than a 1 star here. This firm requires a sizeable down payment to even take your case. In the few months we had their counsel, they did absolutely nothing for our case and had nothing but excuses. The first time we met or even spoke to our attorney was at our initial appearance. Ultimately this firm knew my financial situation (homrless and jobless) and still took the case and a 10k down payment and then, after making zero progress, withdrew from the case and kept the down payment. I'm not saying they are a scam, but what do you think? Was I an easy mark to add 10k to their books? All I'm saying is do your research and make sure you are hiring an attorney with morals.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Gilbert, Arizona?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
