I would advise against ever using her for any legal situation. I was arrested for something I was innocent of. I was assigned Kari Jill Granville as a pro bono attorney. I was incarcerated for 5 months, she would never take my phone calls, she never even got me a police report the time I was in jail, did not even discuss a trial at any time, and simply said if I was to take my case to trial I would lose, and even if I won I would be page two's for carrying a pocket knife I was carrying, come to find out that it is completely legal for me to carry it. When she did do her 2 video visits she lit one cigarette after the other. You're pretty old Keri, slow down on you're smoking!! She kept telling me to sign for 5 years, had my family convinced that was a deal of a lifetime in the email' s she sent them. Thank God I was able to hire a good attorney. I went to court with my new attorney & my new attorney had me out in 3 days. I read your response to the only other review you had, which they said they had the worst experience of their life with you. You responded with saying people can ask you to do something unethical. I asked you for nothing more than legal representation, which you could not provide in the least, how can you respond to this. I mean don't get mad,I'm only keeping it real.

I had the worst legal experience of my life with this woman. This woman did not represent my interest in fact quite the opposite. I have tried to contact her since the ramifications of her lack of representation on me and she ignores all of my phone calls. I’ve asked to see documents and reports and I’ve been denied everything. This woman is someone I would bar run far far away from. This comes from someone who served a legislative internship by scholarship and has a background in law. She is grossly negligent and doesn’t give a damn about people. She made that clear.

Even though she was assigned as a public defender, at no time did I feel that I was treated differently than if I was a full paying client. I never had to ask her to do anything specific or in a certain way because she was already doing everything the way I wanted. Throughout the whole case, her personality helped make things less stressful. I would definitely recommend her to anyone needed an attorney.

Kari handled my boyfriend's case as a public defender. Although public defenders have the reputation of doing the bare minimum for their clients, this was not the case with Kari. At the time of his arrest, I was 4 months pregnant. He was facing 2 separate cases and over 6 charges. She was able to get all of his dangerous felonies dropped to non dangerous and was able to get him off on probation. Because of her hard work and dedication, he was able to see our son being born; something I was feared wasn't going to happen. Throughout the case she kept me informed and was easy to contact. She made us feel like our case was a priority and not just one of the dozens she handles everyday. I would definitely recommend her and will use her again if I should find myself in need of legal help.

Mrs. Granville is an excellent attorney, very knowledgeable about the law an understanding. She truly helped me with my case an my situation, very down to earth person and says it how it is. Which I believe won my case and persuaded the jury to see it under my favor. I appreciate how hard she worked on my case an would recommend her to anyone. Thanks again Kari.

Michael (and Josh) were exactly what I was looking for! I had a previous attorney that would not listen to me and it cost me so much anxiety, stress, frustration, and money. These guys listened to me, provided guidance, and took me out of things that I didn't need to be involved in which let me breathe and not freak out unnecessarily. My case was complex and difficult to prove. I wasn't sure I would find someone that could help me but Michael did just that! Can't recommend them enough!

We've worked with Barreda Law and Michael Alvarez frequently on multiple topics - and will continue to do so if needed. Michael and the firm are excellent advisors, communicators and in-court representatives. While no one can always predict the outcome of any case with perfection, the pros and cons and reasonable-ness are very much appreciative and spot-on.

Honest, simple, direct and to the point. I called him for a consultation and thought for sure I had to hire a lawyer. He advised me how to take care of my problem myself and that did not need a lawyer. However, he still took the time to explain to me what I need to do. If I ever need an attorney in the future I will definately give Karl a call.

Karl Mueller is definitely the guy you want to hire as your attorney. I got a ticket for littering. Throwing an unlit cigarette butt on the road. Turns out this is a criminal offense with possible fine, community service, and jail time, plus stays on your record as a crime forever. I had talked in length with a different attorney who told me this was no big deal, it would be fine, and they should be able to get it reduced. I called Karl and chose him because he truly cared about this going on my record, the specifics of my case, and the things important to me, ( I am 50 years old with a clean record). He did not promise anything, he was honest, LOTS of experience, use to be a prosecutor, has a relationship with the courts, knows the judge and what can potentially work best for me. We spoke on the phone a few times and I trusted him with my case. The day before court he called me to say my case was completely dismissed. WOW!!! He really does work behind the scene. This was not luck, or just simple, that's not me. I choose my attorney wisely and he did his best for me as I believed he would. If you are reading this call him!!!! He answers his phone and returns calls. Best call you will make!!! If you smoke put a water bottle in your car for butts! THANKS KARL!!!

First, I really appreciate what Mr. Muller has done to my case. At first, I was received a ticket for Criminal Speeding. And that time I did not realize the seriousness of it and plead guilty immediately. However, then I know Criminal Speeding would leave a criminal record and I ask Mr. Muller to deal with my case. He first helped me to withdraw the "plead guilty" and appeal again. Although the process lasted a long time, the result is satisfactory. I quite recommend Mr. Muller to deal with the traffic case.

Rex is an excellent lawyer with a great deal of experience with cases surrounding wrongful termination. I came into his office feeling confused and left with confidence after he educated me about my situation from a legal perspective. He was very patient with me and ensured I understood my options before making any decision each step of the way. If I had any questions or reservations, he made time to speak and was very responsive. I am grateful to have worked with Rex and highly recommend him!

I have very limited experience working with an attorney. After the initial consultation of my employment contract, I had the utmost confidence in Rex Christensen. He listened to me very carefully and asked pertinent questions. I did require his expertise in settling my contract and he was prompt, courteous, professional, thorough and highly knowledgeable.

I spoke to Rex on the phone and explained my situation. He said he thought I had a case and set an appointment to meet with him. He explained all of my options in detail. I decided which one was best for me. I decided to hire him and he took the case on contingency. He ended up negotiating a good settlement. Rex kept my informed through the whole process. I highly recommend Rex for wrongful termination.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Gilbert, Arizona?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
