(Posting from my husbands account) I am currently in the process of doing a modification of parenting time, child support, and legal decision-making. I looked up attorneys near me and saw the glowing reviews for Genesis Law, so decided to schedule a consultation. After reading through more reviews after scheduling, I felt a pull to Heidi Davis, so I rescheduled my consultation to be with her, and I’m SO glad that I did. First, I have to point out there gentleman that works the front desk— he immediately put us at ease with his warm personality, witty humor and sarcastic banter, he truly was a joy to interact with and prefaced how great the overall experience was going to be. From the moment Heidi began her introduction she gave us a sort of welcome gift in the form of an academic planner and journal, and explained how she operates and how these two items will be used to benefit our working relationship and case. Honestly, I couldn’t believe I hadn’t thought to utilize these things in prior cases, but you can just tell she’s well organized and works smarter, not harder and teaches you how to do the same— hence why she refers to herself as a teaching attorney. If you are the type of person/client that likes to be more hands on with your case and truly understand the ins and outs of the court process, Heidi is DEFINITELY the must have attorney. Her warmth, understanding, support of your understandably complex emotions regarding the process and wealth knowledge of it all is so beyond comforting. Not long into the consultation I was actually moved to tears because for the first time in so long I felt HEARD. I especially love that one of her requirements of you in your "homework" is self-care. My teenage twin son’s Father historically is very, very difficult to work with. I previously represented myself against an attorney he had hired for over 4 years while he was unwilling to decide on things that should be very simple, like division of holidays, every step of the process fighting over the tiniest most minuscule things. Due to this, I have been very stressed and wary to initiate court proceedings with him again, although after consulting with Heidi made me realize just how it is absolutely needed and that it must be done at this point. I walked out of that office feeling like I could breathe a little easier for the first time in a long time, and I felt fully confident and comfortable to begin this process. I am not someone that freely slings trust around, but I just know in my heart of hearts she is in this for the right reasons, and she genuinely cares about each individual client, we felt as far as one could be from being just a case number to her. Lastly, I have dealt with many attorneys in the past, and as the average citizen it has always felt to me very out of place sitting in their offices, discussing things that just don’t really make sense to us, I don’t know how to put that to words, it’s just always felt like an uncomfortable thing that you have to deal with. That was not the case at all here. Heidi and the other office staff we encountered made it feel very relaxed whilst professional. Like you were talking to a well educated friend, if you will. The only thing I can relate it to is therapy; it all feels very cliche and a bit uncomfortable until you find that perfect fit therapist and THEN you see it’s true worth. It’s not therapy that’s the problem, and in many cases it’s sorely needed— it’s finding the person where the working relationship feels right. Overall, I’m just very impressed so far and as you can see have endless great things to say and I haven’t even truly began the process yet. I am so excited to retain her and I KNOW she’s going to go full throttle to bat for my children and I, I fully trust "the pitbull in heels" with my family.

It's a privilege to have alyssa and leslie to be guiding me through the legal process of obtaining split parenting time with my children. What's been impressive, It's the amount of times I have reached out to the office and Leslie being available to answer my questions. Alyssa the attorney has been doing an incredible job guiding me through this process. Me not having no idea how to go about of obtaining split parenting time, and by far has been a great experience.Alyssa and leslie, are a great team. I knew I made the best decision. The moment I called the firm and they answered the phones on the first ring, and it's been that way ever since. How I knew they are taking my case serious is when I received an email on a Sunday from Leslie and Alyssa I was like WOW!!!! you literally are working seven days a week, and it made me feel that my case is important to them as it is to me. If you're looking for top tier communication, I highly recommend leslie and alyssa.

I cannot say enough positive things. Lynda made sure that the appropriate expectations were always set; I was given realistic options so that I could make an informed decision. I was so grateful for the consistent communication. I always knew what was happening and where I stood. For me, that was very empowering, it genuinely alleviated any of my stress and anxiety. It was an absolute pleasure to work with Vescio Law Firm. What a privilege to know that Lynda Vescio had my back during this process; what an amazing feeling of trust she brought to me. What Lynda gave to me was the emotional strength and empowerment knowing that I can move forward with confidence. It's the best compliment I can give. Simply put, if you want a great attorney, then you want Lynda Vescio.

I cannot describe how grateful I am that I found Lynda! Facing a truly daunting court case, I knew I needed a truly competent attorney. I interviewed several attorneys in the Phoenix area, and after only a few minutes I knew Lynda Vescio was the representation I needed. Due to Lynda's ability, the legal case was settled months ahead of what I was told to expect by the other attorneys, and in my favor! Not only that, but she traveled to meet us for the original consult, unlike the others, and in the end the fees for the entire case ended up being very nearly what she predicted. The billing was succinct and very fair. When we spoke with other attorneys about who we chose for representation, they were unanimous in praising her, and assuring us we chose well indeed. My husband and I find it strange singing the praises of an attorney, but if this will help someone else gain competent representation, so much the better!

Attorney Jeromy West is an excellent attorney. He is so knowledgeable and very patient with the questions I asked. I found him through Google, requested an appointment, he returned my call and gave me as much legal advice as I requested. He walked me through the process of my case and informed me with the different potential outcomes and what to do in each case. I highly recommend him and would definitely seek his help again. Thank you Mr. West.

First of all I would like to thank Miss Ramsay. About a year ago I lost everything. My home my children everything. I did a consultation with Miss Ramsey the day after everything happened. There was no sugar coating she didn't try to fill me with hopes and dreams she told me the facts and laid down the realistic possibilities of fighting in family court. Miss Ramsay and her paralegal never ignored me or made me feel like my case wasn't important to them. There were several Court hearings never-was Miss Ramsey late or unwilling to talk to me before the hearings. She constantly kept me up-to-date on everything that was going on in my case. I did not feel that there was anything she did that I did not know. I would suggest Miss Ramsay to anyone that is having any kind of legal family issues. She help me fight my OOP and was there with me through the entire process. Because of what happened I had not seen my children in a year. And because of Miss Ramsay I ended up getting 50/50 custody as well as joint decision making of my children. Going through family court with an attorney as an extremely expensive proposition. But I say this with all honesty if you want a family attorney that is honest and will be there and listen I would suggest no one else than Miss Ramsay. And that every single penny you spend with her will be worth it.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Glendale, Arizona?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
