Robert was very responsive throughout the long custody dispute. However, he did not advocate for the best interests of my child and just wanted me to agree with the the father and go with 50-50 custody. He left out some important evidence that I feel could have helped during the trial.

Robert defended me and made things fair. My ex moved 4 hours away. He gave great advice and was knowledgeable on everything. He convinced the judge to give my kids everything that was fair and in my favor. It was the best outcome for me and the children. My ex was sanctioned and I was able recovered my attorney fees. Without him I would not have this relationship with my children. Everything he said that could happen in my favor did happen. He knows his stuff. I never had to worry. He is worth it.

I was very leery about going through this process again since I’ve had a really bad experience in the past. Robert told me to trust him and things would be fine. I have been paying way more than %50 of my income plus I was still paying child support on a 21 year old son. I contacted Gillespie and Shields law firm after I moved to Arizona and needed my custody order changed from Colorado to Arizona. I had previously filed pro se and gotten a court date, so time was already ticking down when Robert got on my case. Robert was very professional and set realistic expectations at our very first meeting. He definitely over-delivered as far as the outcome of the case, I got everything that I asked for because of his meticulous, logical and reasonable approach. I consulted with three attorneys before hiring Mr. Newell. He listened to my case and concerns respectfully and kept me informed. I was going through a custody battle with the ex-husband. Very stressful time for me. Robert was good at first with fast responses from him or his paralegal but closer to the first court appearance, we did not meet up to go over anything and he showed up 2 minutes prior to my hearing and left before it was even over. An ass move really. But of course I was charged from the moment he left his office. Then I constantly asked him to make sure he filed paperwork so I could get my lawyer fees reversed since the dad was the one who was out of compliance, but he never guided me or did any paperwork on that. He withdrew without doing any of it. Kind of left me hanging. I have other things that need to be addressed with my case and I will definitely be looking elsewhere now.

Due unfortunate circumstances I had to switch attorneys near the end of my divorce proceedings. The final process of my divorce was going to trial since parties were unable to agree. It was stressful enough having to go to trial and now was concerned I was getting a new attorney at the same firm. After I met with Robert Newell I felt at ease.
