I consulted with Giancarlo in 2020 when I got divorced. My ex-husband and I decided to do the divorce without legal counsel but the information that Giancarlo helped me with was great. 1.5 years later my ex had a horrible drinking problem and I needed to get emergency full custody of my 2 children. I had saved Giancarlo's information and I called him and he jumped into action. I ended up in a battle w/ my ex-husband and his family and Giancarlo was the only one in my corner and we got everything that I wanted. Him and his staff are great. I hope I don't need him again, I have a feeling I will though and he will be the first one I call when things go sideways :)

From the first moment I spoke to Giancarlo on the phone in a Panic. He was there for my Family and I. By knowing and understanding the law, and my situation. He was able to guide me thru the worst part of my life with a huge sense of confidence. Hands down I would recomend Giancarlo to anyone trying to navigate divorce and or child custody.

It is with great pleasure that I recommend this Law firm, especially Giancarlo and team. They recently represented me in a very long and drawn out divorce action. (Over 2 years)! Giancarlo's knowledge of precedent and past rulings were absolutely invaluable as required events and milestones proceeded through the process. His explanations and sometimes "firm" recommendations were always on the mark at every step. He did not mislead me or provide any confidences that were unlikely. His advice and counsel ultimately lead to a result that I did not expect. The final results were fantastic! I could not be more pleased and would recommend his counsel to anyone that finds themselves in the "legal casino" of family court. On a side note I consider Giancarlo to be a friend and confidant who actually cared about me and my families well being.

From day one, Giancarlo has been nothing short of amazing! I hired Giancarlo to represent me in my family law case regarding Parenting Time and Child Support modification. He has always set realistic expectations and provides honest feedback you can trust without a doubt. He is a super genuine guy, has a great personality (not stuffy or uptight), and is just REAL with you in conversation. He always communicated timely, always met all deadlines with court filings, and was always one step ahead in the game. He doesn't nickle and dime you like so many other attorneys do. Best of all, HE WON OUR CASE! The rest of his firm is incredible to work with also. You will not regret working with Giancarlo in your family law matters!

I was told by my financial advisor the trust my husband and I held needed to be changed since he had passed. I read other reviews about Jeffrey and he was close by. As a revision, I believed it was easier, but he took the time both prior to revising and then during the signing of the final document to explain why there was more to it than a name change. I’ve been to estate planning seminars held by legal firms, and the pricing was the same. I felt more comfortable with a local person and not a big firm where I wouldn’t know who I was really working with. Jeffrey was quick to respond with any questions I sent via email, and I had clear directions on what I needed to do post-signing. I appreciated the estate binder supplied at the end.

After a bad experience with another law firm, I contacted Lihn Law Group to help an elderly uncle create an estate plan. He is in a nursing home confined to a bed so he needed someone that would be patient with him and spend the time needed to understand his needs and wishes. Caleb and Hannah were awesome. They visited him several times in the process of understanding how he wanted his estate distributed and took great effort to help him understand the implications of everything he was doing. They went above and beyond to make sure he was well taken care of and throughout the whole process, it was clear that they genuinely cared about his best interest. They were always responsive to needs and requests and I wouldn’t hesitate to contact them in the future for additional legal help. I can’t say enough good things about my experience with them and highly recommend them to anyone seeking estate planning or any legal help that is within their expertise.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Peoria, Arizona?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
