Good reviews, as long as you're paying. He doesn't even keep in touch with my daughter. When he does talk with her, he doesn't remember the details.

I hired Mr. Blackwell back in 2016 after being charged with a class 2 and class 3 felony...I was facing 12.5 years of prison time but with the representation of Mr Blackwell, I only recieved 5 yrs of probation. This man literally gave me a second chance at life and has lifted a huge weight off of myself and family. I truly recommend Mr. Blackwell as a lawyer!! Peace And Blessings Always Mr. Blackwell!!

Mr. Jocquese Blackwell, is an outstanding attorney, who believes in the law and its intent. He is a pugilist, who is not judgmental, will listen to his clients and advise them wisely. Also, to show that regardless of how messed up your case is, even if previous counsel was not effective, if you are innocent, Mr. Blackwell can take a complex mess and turn it around. Mr. Blackwell has a “down to earth” approach and will be honest with his clients to work for their best interests. My advice to prospective client is to be 100% honest with Mr. Blackwell, because he can not defend you, if he is blindsided by any facts you knew but did not tell him about. Once he is your advocate, you can expect Mr. Blackwell to be dedicated, hardworking, organized, up to date on the law, technology and how to conduct himself in a courtroom. He was professional with all the parties involved and was respectful but unwavering when speaking with judges and prosecutors, in his effort to defend me. Mr. Blackwell genuinely cared about me and my case. He got an investigator to work with us and although it was not necessary, our investigator (a retired law enforcement officer) was ready and eager to testify on my behalf. Despite all the antics on the part of the police officers and prosecutors involved, Mr. Blackwell displayed a measured temperament with a perceptive, sharp mind to catch all the little lies that were told to the jury by my accusers and he pointed out the absurdity of those lies, which obviously influenced the jury in our favor. As a Veteran of the U.S. Army, he swore an oath to defend the United States Constitution, and he seems to adopt the ideology that his oath never expired, and as a criminal defense attorney, he is doing just as much to defend our Constitution and our laws, now as he did in the military. He makes an unparalleled amount of sacrifice, working on weekends / holidays with his clients, if the need arises. Mr. Jocquese Blackwell is a true client’s attorney, not one of the many who refuse to fight for you against an apathetic system, because Mr. Blackwell will not “go along, to get along” just to appease his opposition. Mr. Blackwell operates in a principled manner, with a passion that only a dedicated family man could do, defending our nations laws, because he knows our future generations will inherit what we leave behind. Mr. Blackwell carries himself in a courtroom with humble confidence and a decorum, rarely seen today. If my memory serves me correctly, it was Benjamin Franklin, one of our founding fathers, who said “For it is better for ten guilty men to go free, than for one innocent man to suffer.” Something obviously lost in the quagmire of our courts, law enforcement, and prosecutors currently in Maricopa County, but a principle that Mr. Blackwell obviously incorporates into his legal practice for his clients. I hope to never need his services again, this was the first time I have ever needed a criminal defense attorney, but should the need arise, I have and will keep, Mr. Jocquese Blackwell on speed-dial, on my cell phone and so should you.

I was harassed and threatened by bullies, so I defended myself with pepper spray. The police charged me with assault and threat since there weren't independent witnesses to the incident. So I hired lawyer Mr. Jocquese L. Blackwell to defend me at the Phoenix Municipal Court. He stated that I had a solid case with a high chance of winning. He made many promises to me including conducting a full investigation on the bullies, the arresting officers, and the police reports, but almost none of his promises were kept. As a matter of fact, he didn't even bother with information I tried to give him which demonstrated that I was the real victim in this case. After taking his fees first, he went to trial with very little preparation, asking trivial questions, and not making any convincing arguments to prove my side. The result was a full conviction on all false charges made by the police and the prosecutor. And if that wasn't bad enough, Mr. Blackwell still made another lie after the trial that he can overturn my conviction, and all I had to do was to remind him to file after six months. But after six months of waiting, and a few more chasing after him to fulfill his latest promise, I discovered on my own that Arizona had no such procedure. Instead, it had another procedure called 'setting aside a conviction' for closed cases, which doesn't overturn a conviction, but merely allows ignoring a conviction from employment check. But I found out that my case didn't even qualify for that since I had a three years probation and that made my case open. Mr. Blackwell, an experienced lawyer, knows such basic laws and procedures, yet he lied to me anyways.

My husband and I did our wills with Bethany and we were very pleased with the service. Bethany took the time to walk us through each document and was very patient and answered any questions that we had in a way that was very easy for us to understand. She was flexible, responsive, and kept on top of us to ensure we were completing the documents timely. She is also very affordable. I would definitely work with Bethany again.

mrs. Jacobs was my attorney for several corporation formations, small legal issues, and estate planning. From my will and trust, to a simple demand letter, to representing my small business corporation she was there when I had questions, fought for me when I needed it, and provided the legal guidance using everyday language without sounding too legalese. Her rates are reasonable (her estate planning isn't much more than the do it yourself stuff available) and she always made me feel like an important client. Highly recommended.

Trent (Lead Paralegal) and Kelly Law Team, did a fantastic job assisting our family with our MVA claim. My wife was the victim of an irresponsible 25 year old male driver named ZION KAI PALMOMINO ORTIZ who failed to yield, ran the light and hit my wife's vehicle head on at McQueen and Elliot Rd on February 14, 2024 at 7am. My wife suffered horrific injuries as the result of the other driver's (ZION KAI PALMOMINO ORTIZ) incompetence: internal bleeding, knocked unconscious, an open compound fracture of her right knee with her bone exposed thru her right leg, her right patella was completely destroyed, she had ten broken ribs, a broken left ankle, major loss of blood, a severe concussion, lower lumbar spine damage, and she had to be transported to the hospital as a Jane Doe because she was unconscious when Gilbert Police and Paramedics arrived at the scene of the accident. My wife's vehicle was totaled and it is a miracle that she was not killed. The other driver, ZION KAI PALMOMINO ORTIZ was arrested and criminally cited. The at fault incompetent other driver, ZION KAI PALMOMINO ORTIZ was arrested by GPD and criminally cited with Offense # 1 90Z-3A 28-672 - SERIOUS FATAL OR INJ ACCIDENT-FAIL TO COMPLY TRAFFIC OFFENSE / ACCIDENT CRIMINAL CHARGING - COMPLETED. (Statute 28-672A SERIOUS FATAL OR INJ ACCIDENT-FAIL TO COMPLY W/ SEC. A1-A7 (M). ) Please know that Personal Injury judgements in the state of Arizona are fully dischargeable when the at fault party files Chapter 7 bankruptcy; when this happens, you will get nothing for your horrific injuries you suffered and for your pain and suffering. So your choices are to spend 2+ years of your life obtaining a personal injury judgement against them only to have them file Chapter 7 Bankruptcy and wipe our your judgment, or accept their auto insurance liability limit on their auto policy and not pursue the personal injury judgement in court. The at fault party gets off Scot free with their only consequence being a higher monthly insurance bill while you have serious health consequences for the rest of your life. This Arizona personal injury law favors the at fault party and needs to change. We could have pursued the Personal Injury Judgement and forced the at fault party ZION KAI PALMOMINO ORTIZ and parents whose son was on their auto policy at GEICO: ORTIZ JAMES/PALOMINO-ORTIZ EMILY to file Chapter 7 Bankruptcy. Trent is very knowledgeable and made sure that we were fully aware of all the steps taken throughout the entire claims process. He made this complex lengthy MVA case stress free and was always pleasant and available. I highly recommended Kelly Law Team Phoenix. Thank you Trent and John Kelly for delivering the best possible outcome for our family.

I was in an unexpected and unfortunate car accident in late December of 2023. With the amazing help from Kelly Law Team, this complex and lengthy process became stress free and easy to understand, as the team is very communicative and will go through lengths to make sure everything is able to be broken down and understood. I worked with amazing paralegals, and would like to give recognition to Trent who closed this case in August of 2024. I am so very grateful that this case was able to come to a resolution very quickly and with such ease. Thank you so much!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Phoenix, Arizona?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
