When we set out to apply for lawful permanent residence, we wanted to find an attorney who had both in-depth experience with our type of case, as well as an empathetic approach to understanding the challenges faced by immigrants. A close friend recommended Ray Ybarra Maldonado very highly, and when we looked up his background, we learnt about his long history of tireless advocacy for immigrant rights. We met with him and immediately felt a strong sense of rapport with him. As a rather fastidious couple, we had prepared a detailed list of questions for Ray during our very first meeting. His office requested us to send him our questions in advance, and when we arrived, he had a printout of the questionnaire ready on his desk. Although our meeting was only meant to be half an hour, he sat with us for over an hour and patiently answered all our questions in detail. Of all the attorneys we were referred to, Ray demonstrated the perfect balance of professionalism, expertise and commitment. His rates were also on par with or cheaper than any of the other attorneys we met, and the firm offered a reasonable multi-month payment plan. But more than anything, he made us feel that he genuinely cared about us and was on our side. We knew then that we wanted to hire Ray's services for this important and life-changing process. Over the next few months, we worked with Ray's paralegal, Ricardo, on preparing the application. Their office kept us well-informed about the requirements, and used a well-designed online portal to collect all the information they needed. We had many questions during this process, which Ricardo painstakingly answered over several hour-long calls. Our application was prepared very efficiently and then reviewed by Ray, who met with us again to go over all the details before it was submitted. When we received our interview request, we had questions about the process we wanted to discuss with Ray. Not only did he make himself available at short notice to answer our questions, he went above and beyond to conduct additional research and make sure that we had the most accurate and up-to-date information possible. This whole experience showed us that Ray and his entire team are very diligent, organized and careful. Ray also met with us before the interview to talk us through the process in depth and answer our many questions. We felt well prepared and confident enough in the firm's professionalism that we didn't need Ray to attend our interview with us. Our application has now been successfully approved. Although the process was long and arduous, we had one of the smoothest and most efficient experiences among all the immigrant families we know, and we owe it all to Ray and his team. We highly recommend him without reservation to everyone!
