When my son was arrested, I had no idea where to start. After hearing scare tactics from another attorney, I received a call back from David (on a weekend!!!) and he was both calm and reassuring. A former prosecutor, he knew his way around the court system and the outcome was wonderful. He took both my calls and my sons calls with any questions that we had. Highly recommend hiring David for any criminal defense needs.

I found myself in a mess that blind sided me out of nowhere. My whole life, I had never been in trouble before and I was looking at charges that could literally have put me away. I live out of state and there were not any attorneys available in the locality where the problem occurred. I searched Phoenix and found David's website. I spoke with David by phone and he had a calmness about him. He didn't scare me into why I needed to hire him, unlike another attorney I had talked to prior. David helped myself and my husband, through the worse time of our lives. David is professional but yet easy to talk to. We met with David and Bill Wynn his associate. They agreed to take our new drug case with priors. After several months and inpatient counseling and a series of negative drug tests, Bill was able to negotiate a very positive out come that put me on probation rather than several years in DOC. I was an out of state client facing harassment charges in Arizona, had never been to Arizona so I began to research lawyers online. I talked to several attorneys and explain the ridiculous accusations that was brought against me and none of them gave me the assurance I was looking for. I hired David, because he seemed very knowledgeable in analyzing the case. He was always there to answer my questions & address my concerns. We decided to go to trial, because I was not settling for anything other, than a dismissal and boy did David deliver in the courtroom, his cross examining of the accuser was amazing. Not surprising the ruling was NOT GUILTY! David is the man for the job!

I have been a medical marijuana patient since the inception of the state program in 2011. When I first obtained my medical card, I was allowed the privilege to cultivate my own medicine. I was allowed this privilege until spring of 2013, once the dispensaries started opening. Against my better judgement, I continued to grow my own medicine the last several years, and an unfortunate unrelated backyard fire last summer called the fire department as well as the police to my rental property. One of the first responding officers sensed this was a possible grow house, and in a violation of my 4th amendment, opened a closed side door into my house. From there she was able to secure a warrant, and 6 months later, myself and a friend were being charged with 5 different felonies, ranging from Class 5 to Class 4. I had never been in trouble with the legal system before, and immediately retained a lawyer at another law office, but once my charges came through, they told me they couldn't even LOOK at my case further until I paid them $30,000. I had already paid them $5,000 and they hadn't done any of the things they had said they would. At this point, frustrated, I began to research other defense attorneys. I went to a big firm in downtown Phoenix, but I just felt like I was getting a sales pitch from one of their legal aides. The guy I spoke to wasn't even a lawyer, and only seemed concerned with how much money I could get access to and if I would retain them right away. It literally felt like buying a car at a dealership. Fortunately, I had stumbled across David's profile on AVVO, and decided to make a consultation. From the very first time I sat with him, he made me me feel at ease with regards to my charges. He didn't seem arrogant or braggadocious like the other attorneys I had consulted with prior, and he charged me a VERY reasonable fee to handle my case. All throughout the case, his paralegals and himself stayed in constant contact, whether by email, text, or phone call. The prosecutor offered myself and my friend plea deals, and while the deal was great; no jail time, 2 years probation, and 100 community service, and an undesignated felony. I still felt that MY rights were violated by the police officer that just opened my door to get probable cause, and I didn't want to deal with any of the probation or fines. I decided to press on and take it to trial. David ended getting me my optimal result, all charges dismissed without prejudice. I can now move on with my life without having the fear of going to jail or a felony on my record. I would definitely recommend David Black and his entire law firm to anyone facing criminal charges or just needing some legal advice. He's a solid guy, and I always felt like I was in good hands and not being scammed. Thanks David!

My family and I sought out the help of Mr. David Black when a family member of ours (I'll call him Jr. for the sake of privacy) found himself in some serious trouble, with numerous criminal charges pinned against him. Initially, Jr.'s very own public defender was confident he was looking to serve the minimum of 25 years. The very first judge he stood before was very strict she and told the prosecution his charges would get him 50 years in prison. And that was almost his fate, with only one court date left until the judge made her decision, that is, until we, his family, decided to help him seek out new representation. We knew that with his public defender there wasn't a chance of freedom for at least a quarter century, so we researched the internet, made many phone calls, and finally came across a lawyer who listened, was sympathetic, and actively wanted to help and get started right away. He took the case at a moment's notice, and if he hadn't done that, Jr. would still be in prison today. Because of Mr. David Black, Jr.'s sentence was a maximum of 2 years total with a plea. If he'd gone to trial he was looking at a minimum of 7 years had he lost. The prosecution was strong because of details in the case and the criminal charges against Jr. Mr. Black briefed us via phone and at every court appearance we made, he always kept us updated with the case and the options he presented to Jr. His is exemplary in his profession, his care, and in his follow through to really be there for his client and their family. He even went out of his way to facilitate and tend to other non-related personal matters for Jr. He was a true blessing. If ever you're seeking a lawyer to trust, someone to really be by your side and give you the best outcome possible, Mr. David Black is that lawyer. I felt compelled to write this review because Jr. is out of prison now, and has written bad reviews about this lawyer, without cause. He made many false statements and needs behavioral health to work out some of his frustrations. I guess he seems to think that once a lawyer is paid, a magic wand is waved that undoes every unlawful move he made. He has an accountability problem, and Mr. David A. Black shouldn't be slandered in anyway because of it, because Jr. would not be a free man today if not for Mr. Black.

We hired David Black in Phoenix, AZ for our son who went off the deep end, so to speak, over a failed marriage. Without going into details just to suffice it to say he had varying degrees of charges in Phoenix, Mesa, Scottsdale, Tucson, et.al. I think he had 8 Felony charges as well as misdemeanor charges all over the place. I am not going to discuss my son's cases here, publicly, for the world to see, but rest assured they were serious, but non - violent charges. David Black and also William Wynn really surpassed our expectations. They were able achieve a remarkable outcome for our son. I also need to mention the other staff who also had an active roll dealing with us as well as our son. ( we are not in AZ) Laura Oakly is a Paralegal and Megan Bratsouleas who is a Legal Assistant. We had a lot of contact with them as well during this trying time. They were very sincere, truly caring and helpful. They are an awesome team, did not display the arrogance and condescending attitude found in other law firms. Together they came up with a defense strategy that we feel no other attorney would have been able to accomplish. We are extremely grateful for the outcome and all they did to help our son.

(Let me start by saying if I had given a Public Pretender the control to determine the fate of my case – of my Life – there’s a good chance – because of the way things appeared – I would be sitting in a jail cell now instead of writing these words….) That being said, should you ever find yourself on the wrong side of the law and are in a position to hire legal representation, choose David Black…and here are just a few of my reasons for which I will be forever grateful. • They treated me like a person – not a dollar amount and certainly never like a criminal. Respect and integrity are words that mean something to them and their actions are proof of that. (And those are nice feelings – at a time when I was feeling down about myself and my situation.) • They’re real people – real, down to earth people - who also happen to be organized and professional. (And they explained things in terms I could understand without talking down to me.) • They maintained communication with me about my case every step of the way – not just the day before I was supposed to show up for a court appearance. I was encouraged to ask questions and was never once made to feel stupid for not knowing the answers. (Because no matter how smart you may be, navigating through legalities – especially in the state of Arizona – can be confusing.) • It was easy to find myself trusting not only David but the extraordinary group he has working with him; the compassion and genuine concern with which I was treated – the ways that they helped me to believe that I was worthy of a second chance and I had every right to a bright future – …well, those are simply things on which you can’t put a price tag….

Me and my husband were very lucky to have attorney like Mr. David Black. He was very professional and informative. We are out of State and did not know where to start. Mr. Black explained me and my husband the case thoroughly and advised us honestly of what our options were. He was very efficient and knowledgeable of the case and stayed in touch at all times.
