When your life is legally on the line, do you really want to trust a public defender? I know I didn't. The police built a case against me that was very one sided because I didn't want to cooperate. It was domestic violence, it turned into the state telling me 4-6 years in prison for a first time offence. Very scary, and threatening judicial system. Initially I went with an attorney that asked me over and over and over to plead guilty. I didn't beat my girl, I didn't hit her, i didn't do anything but leave the house. So why should I plea guilty? Because you won't face jail time she said, I said where's the justice in that. I stuck to my guns (and still have my rights) went and got Jess, and he drug me along through the legal process. Got a felony 4 down to a felony 6, then to a misdemeanor, then to a dismissal. If you want real justice, get an expert that's familiar with the law, the court room, and the legal process, get the best go with Jess.
