Richard led our bad faith suit against our insurance company that denied a significant claim required for home repairs after a pipe burst in our home. Richard is an expert on bad faith claims and proved that expertise in helping to win our claim against a top insurance company. Richard led our legal team over 18 months and was able to negotiate a fair settlement for us at a reasonable cost. We are very pleased with the quality of our legal team, the support and expertise they provided throughout the litigation process. They are sincerely a winning team!

Rich did a great job representing our financial services organization and I highly recommend him! We retained Rich to initiate proceedings against our insurance company for denying a large claim. As a first step, Rich engaged in discussions with opposing counsel and set forth our position in no-nonsense terms. He substantiated our position with thorough case law citations. As a result, we ended up settling this matter without having to file a complaint, saving our organization the expense and time-consuming process of litigation. I have been practicing law for over 20 years and I found Rich to be one of the toughest negotiators out there. Our executive team is very pleased with the outcome in this matter. We appreciate Rich and his zealous advocacy! Highly recommend!

Rich Gramlich, Professional, Experienced and Prepared. "PEP" How can you do better for your client than obtaining a settlement well in excess of what the client expected. Rich did just that. He was cost conscious asking me, if I wanted to pay for a deposition or pass due to costs? I left that chose to Rich who chose yes and I'm glad he did. The deposition appeared to have increased the settlement in mediation quite significantly. Rich was obviously very well prepared for the deposition with a good retention of the facts and issues supporting my claim. I am not an Attorney but my two kids are so I get it. Law is a business so chose a lawyer that's a winner. I did and it provided great results. Great experience. Thank You Mr. Gramlich

Pros
1
Experienced, knowledgeable, and effective lawyer who is tough with the opposition
“He is smart, knowledgeable, experienced and explains things quickly, thoroughly and in a way that a layperson can understand. And....he is tough with the opposition.”
2
Able to take control of complex cases and provide clear, understandable guidance
“After almost three years since the discovery of the construction defect, I finally had an advocate who was not only willing, but ABLE to fight for my rights and legal protections.”
3
Achieves favorable settlements and outcomes for clients
“Richard led our legal team over 18 months and was able to negotiate a fair settlement for us at a reasonable cost.”
4
Cost-conscious and willing to make strategic decisions to benefit the client
“He is smart, ethical, aggressive and very cost conscious, with the nick name "Bulldog" which is well deserved.”
5
Highly recommended by both clients and fellow attorneys
“I am also an attorney with over 40 years of trial experience, so consider the source.”
Cons
1
Lawsuits can be a "losing proposition" for individual consumers/plaintiffs
“That being said, the best course of action is NOT to get involved in a lawsuit in the first place if you can possibly avoid it. It is a losing proposition for an individual consumer/plaintiff and when your attorney and other professionals tell you that you won't be "made whole" – believe them.”
2
Clients may still lose a substantial amount of money, even with the lawyer's help
“Although in the end, I lost a substantial amount of money, I recognize that without Rich's help the financial devastation would have been much, much worse.”

My husband and I did our wills with Bethany and we were very pleased with the service. Bethany took the time to walk us through each document and was very patient and answered any questions that we had in a way that was very easy for us to understand. She was flexible, responsive, and kept on top of us to ensure we were completing the documents timely. She is also very affordable. I would definitely work with Bethany again.

mrs. Jacobs was my attorney for several corporation formations, small legal issues, and estate planning. From my will and trust, to a simple demand letter, to representing my small business corporation she was there when I had questions, fought for me when I needed it, and provided the legal guidance using everyday language without sounding too legalese. Her rates are reasonable (her estate planning isn't much more than the do it yourself stuff available) and she always made me feel like an important client. Highly recommended.

Kelly Law Team, John Kelly and Trent, my paralegal were great throughout my entire process. I had many minute details involved in my case and they made sure everything was taken care of for me. They fought to get me amount that I felt my case was worth. Trent communicated with me continuously and it made me feel a great amount of transparency. I had no idea what I was getting into with a large car accident but they made everything easy.

What Questions Should I Ask Before Hiring a Lawyer?

Hiring the right lawyer is crucial for the success of your case. Here are some important questions to ask during your initial consultation:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the expected timeline for my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What challenges do you foresee in my case?
Understanding potential obstacles helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to resolve my legal issue?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Phoenix, Arizona?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
