So, the receptionist at this firm is very nice until you pay for the consultation then she hangs up on you before you finish talking. I reached out to this firm in order to help my mom with a situation she is going through with her HOA. Turns out the attorney really only cares about cases that have a large paycheck involved.
The attorney was nice but basically just listened to my mom, made some suggestions and said it wouldn’t be worth hiring him. He said it would be cheaper to deal with it ourselves. Even though we tried explaining the HOA is being obnoxious and that we will never be able to resolve it without an attorney. He suggested we make a settlement offer. This did not work. We paid off the balance. Now the HOA has added another $1000 in fees plus is charging my mother $50 per day until she makes a repair. The repair is literally impossible because if the shortage of contractors willing to do the repair. She cannot possibly get the repair done for around two months. The HOA says “tough luck” But now my mother is being charged $1500 a month, not including other obnoxious fines of $300 here and there and not receiving a copy of the monthly news letter. I have dozens of hours on this. The lawyer admitted the fees were excessive. He said we could ask them not to come on the property. They have responded saying basically “we will come onto your property if we want and we have every right to do so.” So the lawyer gave us advice that didn’t even work in the consultation. I understand he can’t tell the future, but then I still said I would like to hire him. I really didn’t know what else to do, I had the funds ready to pay.
The point now is that the attorney is refusing to take our case without actually telling us that. He basically told us we would not be able to afford him because he has a minimum $1000 retainer on all cases (first off the receptionist said that there is no set minimum retainer which was a lie). He has no idea what my Job is or income is. But assumed a messily $1000 is too much to pay to start a case. This case is not about money for me. It is about to get the HOA to stop harassing my mother and for them to start being reasonable.
So I emailed the attorney afterword explaining that I am helping my mother from 2000 miles away and I cannot continue to take off my work to spend thousands if dollars worth of my time each week. We needed someone to step in and deal with this HOA. He said he would send me a retainer agreement. Well, he never has sent it. It has been a month now and now there are thousands if dollars of more find. This attorney only cares about how much he can get paid and if he thinks it isn’t a big pay day, he will not take your case. Stay far away. I was willing to pay because it was a better value then the cost it takes me to deal with the HOA but a basically was ghosted.

Anytime you're paying $350 an hour to have anyone do something it's not going to be a totally happy experience. I used them for two HOA disputes. They felt I was right, and I felt I was right. Both were resolved to my satisfaction, and we got a judgment for all of the attorney fees added to one of the judgments and on the other I got 5 minutes of advice and they just hid under a rock until it went away. So, that's a good resolution on both. Not a lot of places do HOA adversary work, so that's of value. I see some of the negative reviews on here, and the problem with any attorney is the price -- at $350 an hour, you're never going to be truly happy unless you're the one receiving the $350 an hour! They did charge me for a consult fee (I believe $175 for 30 minutes), and ... well ... welcome to a small law office that has to screen out people who just want to take up their time. Time is $350 an hour -- but, they did have the right answers and they do know what they are doing. They didn't drop anything, and I didn't feel that they overworked the file.

My experience with Dessaules Law Group was a positive one. Let me start by saying suing an HOA in Arizona is by far the most complicated ordeal I have ever been through. In my case the HOA ended up with three insurance companies standing behind the HOA during the settlement process, which created a long drawn out battle. I must say my legal team, Jon Dessaules and Robert Connelly were extremely aggressive with their attention to my case. The Dessaules firm held the insurance lawyers, property manager and the board of director's feet to the fire in getting ALL the exterior and commons areas repaired to our satisfaction. Most importantly a binding settlement was signed by all parties. Also a significant settlement was also awarded for our damages. I now have my life back!

In 2017 Jonathan Dessaules represented me in a complicated family law case. Not only did he win against a team of lawyers from a high paid law firm but he did it in a way that left absolutely no doubt that we were the correct and damaged party in the situation.
In addition to the family law case Jonathan Dessaules has advised me in everything from real estate/HOA law to criminal law.
Over the years I have unfortunately needed more than my fair share of attorneys and never have I felt that any of them truly cared about the outcome of my case after I paid them except Jonathan Dessaules.
From the first time I spoke to him Jonathan Dessaules actually made me feel like he was going to help and not once during the time I retained him including during our two court dates did that resolve to help me ever feel like it weakened.
Any time a friend asks me for the name of a good lawyer I tell them that the best lawyer in Arizona is named Jonathan Dessaules. I will never hire anyone else.

Over the course of my 3+ decades of navigating commercial and corporate deals I have used multiple attorneys for their various expertise. Jon DesSaules was someone that came highly recommended for a recent matter. He handled that matter beautifully. He is extremely respectful of the client's time. He is lightening fast at digesting anything placed in front of him and he summates things with well chosen fewer words than any attorney I have worked with. Lastly, he actually follows up and follows through without being prompted even when pressed in multiple directions.
