Tom saved my life and protected myself and my child. HE IS THE BEST! It was my first time fighting in court. I was scared and lost. Tom gave good support and straight forward directions. The only thing I had a problem with is his response time back to me sometimes. Later learning it was my impatience. Also to save me money and both of us from nonsense time. Due to me over asking questions stemming from fear and anxiety. Questions that were answered in dew time. We were up against another tough lawyer. Tom stood strong, tough, firm, honest and confident. When I thought Tom was quiet in his responses to me. He truly was hearing me. When it came to time in court. Those little concerns were blasted right back at apposing council. Ammo I didn't even expect due to my naiveness. He fought toughly for me 100%. I received everything I was asking for, with a few compromises. He worked with me on payments that I could afford. I would highly recommend Tom and would use him again! He truly saved mine and my child's life! Thank you Tom!

I had Tom to represent my case during my complicated divorce and child custody. My case lasted longer than expected. He explained to me the family law clearly and he understood my situation. As I went through my divorce, I had tendencies to become subjective and wished the law could grant everything I desired. Tom was very objective in discussing to me what is possible and not possible according to the law. I went through with the process of my divorce not with a very clear understanding of what I can have and what I can not have and Tom was always there to explain to me whys of the process. He was very clear to explain to me that there was no guarantee that I will get what I wanted but the guarantee was he would do his best to get me and my son what is fair and he DID. My divorce and my child custody was done and I did not get what I wanted but I did have what is fair. I also had a clear understanding of why things work that way because Tom had educated me along the process. During the process, I also felt that I had somebody who truly care and would always be there to defend me and my son from the abuses. In the manner of communication, we did everything through email and only very minimal phone calls. However, I never felt that Tom and Tawsha missed to communicate with me. There was always an effective communication and when I was confused, I just sent an email and even if he was in vacation, I always got the answers from Tom or from his paralegal. I am forever grateful to Tom and Tawsha for guiding, educating and walking me through that very difficult and complicated process. I highly recommend Tom because he is the type of a lawyer who is very straight forward and realistic about his cases.

Thomas Alongi is a complete professional who is brilliant in his understanding and interpretation of family law. I came to him in a desperate state where a previous attorney had completely botched my case by untimely filings. My first encounter with Tom’s firm was a very compassionate and understanding conversation with his assistant/paralegal Tawsha. My case was complicated . I hired The Alongi firm at the eleventh hour. Tom was able to dissect and reconstruct years of information and get positive results in a short week. He kept me and my children safe from domestic violence and completely turned my nightmare situation into the results I desired. He and his staff have a deep and profound understanding of domestic violence and the Law. I could only say that my children’s lives and mine were protected through the courts only because of Tom Alongi’s just and fair way of dealing with a very complicated court system.

Am shaken by this whole thing. This lawyer quit citintg ineffective communication with my disabled daughter. He promised us full representation of the trial after we paid him 10k. I am filing bankruptcy because of his unethical actions.

After hiring multiple other attorneys and not feeling satisfied with the work they were doing, I finally found Tom Alongi to help me with my child custody/relocation case. Alongi is hardworking, empathetic, and highly knowledgable about family law! I greatly appreciate that Tom was always very open and honest about all of my options so I could decide what decisions to make for my son and I. Tom is also very knowledgable and compassionate about cases involving domestic abuse and I consider him to be an advocate for survivors. His paralegal, Tawsha, was also excellent. I would recommend Tom Alongi to anyone who is looking for an attorney who is going to take their case seriously and achieve the best possible outcome.

My husband and I did our wills with Bethany and we were very pleased with the service. Bethany took the time to walk us through each document and was very patient and answered any questions that we had in a way that was very easy for us to understand. She was flexible, responsive, and kept on top of us to ensure we were completing the documents timely. She is also very affordable. I would definitely work with Bethany again.

mrs. Jacobs was my attorney for several corporation formations, small legal issues, and estate planning. From my will and trust, to a simple demand letter, to representing my small business corporation she was there when I had questions, fought for me when I needed it, and provided the legal guidance using everyday language without sounding too legalese. Her rates are reasonable (her estate planning isn't much more than the do it yourself stuff available) and she always made me feel like an important client. Highly recommended.

Trent (Lead Paralegal) and Kelly Law Team, did a fantastic job assisting our family with our MVA claim. My wife was the victim of an irresponsible 25 year old male driver named ZION KAI PALMOMINO ORTIZ who failed to yield, ran the light and hit my wife's vehicle head on at McQueen and Elliot Rd on February 14, 2024 at 7am. My wife suffered horrific injuries as the result of the other driver's (ZION KAI PALMOMINO ORTIZ) incompetence: internal bleeding, knocked unconscious, an open compound fracture of her right knee with her bone exposed thru her right leg, her right patella was completely destroyed, she had ten broken ribs, a broken left ankle, major loss of blood, a severe concussion, lower lumbar spine damage, and she had to be transported to the hospital as a Jane Doe because she was unconscious when Gilbert Police and Paramedics arrived at the scene of the accident. My wife's vehicle was totaled and it is a miracle that she was not killed. The other driver, ZION KAI PALMOMINO ORTIZ was arrested and criminally cited. The at fault incompetent other driver, ZION KAI PALMOMINO ORTIZ was arrested by GPD and criminally cited with Offense # 1 90Z-3A 28-672 - SERIOUS FATAL OR INJ ACCIDENT-FAIL TO COMPLY TRAFFIC OFFENSE / ACCIDENT CRIMINAL CHARGING - COMPLETED. (Statute 28-672A SERIOUS FATAL OR INJ ACCIDENT-FAIL TO COMPLY W/ SEC. A1-A7 (M). ) Please know that Personal Injury judgements in the state of Arizona are fully dischargeable when the at fault party files Chapter 7 bankruptcy; when this happens, you will get nothing for your horrific injuries you suffered and for your pain and suffering. So your choices are to spend 2+ years of your life obtaining a personal injury judgement against them only to have them file Chapter 7 Bankruptcy and wipe our your judgment, or accept their auto insurance liability limit on their auto policy and not pursue the personal injury judgement in court. The at fault party gets off Scot free with their only consequence being a higher monthly insurance bill while you have serious health consequences for the rest of your life. This Arizona personal injury law favors the at fault party and needs to change. We could have pursued the Personal Injury Judgement and forced the at fault party ZION KAI PALMOMINO ORTIZ and parents whose son was on their auto policy at GEICO: ORTIZ JAMES/PALOMINO-ORTIZ EMILY to file Chapter 7 Bankruptcy. Trent is very knowledgeable and made sure that we were fully aware of all the steps taken throughout the entire claims process. He made this complex lengthy MVA case stress free and was always pleasant and available. I highly recommended Kelly Law Team Phoenix. Thank you Trent and John Kelly for delivering the best possible outcome for our family.

I was in an unexpected and unfortunate car accident in late December of 2023. With the amazing help from Kelly Law Team, this complex and lengthy process became stress free and easy to understand, as the team is very communicative and will go through lengths to make sure everything is able to be broken down and understood. I worked with amazing paralegals, and would like to give recognition to Trent who closed this case in August of 2024. I am so very grateful that this case was able to come to a resolution very quickly and with such ease. Thank you so much!

What Questions Should I Ask Before Hiring a Lawyer?

Hiring the right lawyer is crucial for the success of your case. Here are some important questions to ask during your initial consultation:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Phoenix, Arizona?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
