I want to be clear, the 5 stars i chose to grade is specifically for the work of one person only and that’s Chenique Smith! Chenique is the only person in this firm who treated me and my mother with thoughtfulness, professionalism and respect. If the words Cook Law weren’t next to her name i would swear i was dealing with my best friend or a close family member. She definitely made my mother and i feel important. Chenique paid close attention to detail and was timely in her response to our messages while remaining proactive in getting things done, whereas others simply made us feel forgotten. I hope Chenique is paid her worth because she definitely is keeping that office afloat.

Let’s be honest. Chenique is such a beautiful soul. I truly felt like I was talking to my big sister. She advocated for me, even though my case was extremely complicated and unique. She made me feel like I’m worth fighting for and genuinely expressed concern to rescue me from this crazy situation I’m in. When I got off the phone with her, my boyfriend asked me if I was talking to my best friend… I told him that I was talking to the firm that was going to represent me for my accident and he was like… “You guys were talking to each other like you had known each other for years! I thought it was your bestie!” So much gratitude for this firm and every person I’ve talked to that’s heard me out and helped me along the way. Thank you so much you guys! I feel lighter knowing I’m in the hands of people that I know are going to do their best. 💜💜

I hired Mr Sacco to represent me, after a "big box" firm failed to do anything after several months. Only 2 weeks into the claim, Mr Sacco not only researched all angles, but also had a professional presentation prepared and maintained contact with me throughout the claim. Mr Sacco truly believes in doing the right thing by his clients, and getting the job done! I highly recommend his services

I came to Bob's firm with a unique and difficult probate case that I was hoping wouldn't have to go to arbitration. I was drawn to his firm because of a positive experience in my family, but I was still nervous about who I would choose to represent me. I had a very delicate situation and knew I needed a specific kind of attorney to take on this case with me. I met with Bob for an initial consult, and I immediately knew I wanted to hire him. Bob went above and beyond in my case and made sure that he would get things to end in my favor. I appreciated his honesty and straight forwardness from start to finish; I had expected to have to interpret the real truth in what was being said to me, but Bob always told it like it was - even when I wasn't always thrilled with what he was telling me. His work ethic is admirable and the persistence he showed in my case blew my expectations out of the water. Bob fought for me tooth and nail and still kept everything realistic in our conversations. I truly respect and revere his efforts and performance. While I don't doubt that other lawyers are capable of handling what I was going through, I don't believe I would have found a better match in my case than with Bob. I cannot recommend him enough. Thank you, Bob, for your help in everything.

Bob took over our case and definitely went above & beyond all expectations at a difficult time. My Developmentally & Intellectually Disabled friend was in need of someone to oversee her basic daily needs, manage her money & make sure she is safe. Bob helped us with the legal necessities of my becoming her Guardian in addition to the “Big Sis” she calls me. Bob & his assistant are always personable, patient & easy to understand in a world where I have no knowledge. What a God Send and a Blessing to me and mine! When I come of Probate age myself, I Know who to call!!!

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Tempe, Arizona?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
