He's really amazing at what he does and he's a good person. Plus he's brilliant and very smart at reading situations. In November 2023 I was targeted by a road-raging lunatic who raced alongside me when I tried to pass him, deliberately cut me off at a merge, gave me the finger with his entire arm out the window, and brake-checked me at a roundabout. My bumper tapped his as a result of his last stunt (there was no damage) but he got menacingly out of his car, ordered me out of mine and, because he’d stopped his car dead in the middle of a roundabout, held up a long line of cars behind me. I was freaked out, sped home (3 minutes away) and, still in my car, reported him to the police. Nonetheless, I was charged with “leaving the scene of a hit and run.” I was mortified & had no idea what to do. An acquaintance recommended I phone Michael Harwin saying I would find him to be an excellent lawyer. He was right. Harwin has all the skills of a first class lawyer: knows his subject inside & out; knows what to expect from different judges, prosecutors, detectives, and others who are involved in the justice system, and is therefore able to give you a very good idea of what will happen without ever claiming to “know” how it’ll end up. He’s also honest when he assesses your case - no impossible promises or hidden extra charges. [His fee is reasonable, and his office assistant is efficient, experienced, and empathetic.] What differentiates Michael Harwin from other capable, decent lawyers are three things: his intelligence, his humanities background, and his sense of humor. Because he’s intelligent and perceptive, Harwin is quick to figure out who you are: he is never patronizing, belittling, or indifferent to what you’re experiencing; on the contrary, he is remarkably good natured and able to understand where you’re coming from. His humanities training makes him able to relate to people from a wide variety of backgrounds. I know very few people this capable of reading others, something that is a rare talent especially when a person is on your side trying to help. Finally, just when you feel like punching a wall because the lunatic driver who got you into this mess has just ruined your vacation, Michael Harwin’s sense of humor turns that wrath into something more productive (like writing down your firsthand account of what happened with all the necessary details). He has a marvelous sense of humor. If anyone ever asks me whether or not I can recommend a good lawyer, I can: Michael Harwin. I wouldn’t hesitate for a second. Epilogue: my case was dismissed with prejudice. Sir Lunatic Driver will have to torment someone else. I couldn’t have asked for a better outcome.
