I have worked for Stephen as a paralegal and investigator on many of his cases over the past twenty years. Stephen has also represented me on three cases that I can remember. He takes cases that other attorneys are not capable of handling. He is not intimidated by bullying tactics from opposing counsel. Stephen is proficient in commercial litigation, probate, construction and real estate. He also has a working knowledge of bankruptcy, criminal, and domestic law because these specialized areas of law can filter in to his primary practice. Stephen’s ethics are of the highest caliber and he works diligently for his clients although many of them do not appreciate just how hard he works. A client will never find Stephen Gonzalez faltering, tripping or stumbling in the courtroom because is always prepared when he goes to court.

Stephen has been instrumental in our current legal easement case. He is knowledgeable and well versed in 'the system.' He also explains the legal process along each step of the way, and points out possible responses from opposing council, and alternate approaches. I couldn't be more pleased with the results we've received.

Maricela handled my case very well. She expressed she cared and was always well prepared. I was extremely happy with the outcome of our court hearings and she pursued my requests despite our differences in opinion. I was delighted with the outcome of her approach and was motivated by her boldness in court. My ex-spouse seemed to back out of a continuance that was scheduled part due to Maricela's performance. He was quite adamant about having his way at the beginning, but later Maricela's persistence helped push him to come to an agreement. I was very well pleased with Maricela and how she presents herself before the Judge and how she uses good judgment in her approach. I have to say although I'm happy it's all over and I won't be going through more heartache in court with my ex-spouse, I'll really miss her! Rest assured that Maricela will address your concerns! I felt she was reasonable in her billing and fair minded in her approach. At the end of it all, I loved having her by my side!

Family Law issues are probably one of the hardest situations to deal with, especially when your children are involved. Ms. Meza was recommended to me by another attorney, and I could not have been happier with her services. She specializes solely in Family Law matters, so you are getting a true expert in the field...not someone who dabbles in it. She is very knowledgeable, intelligent, and passionate about what she does. She will give you a very fair assessment about what she thinks the potential outcome of your case will be. You can feel confident going in to a courtroom with her representing you. If you are looking for a fair, ethical, intelligent, articulate, and exceptional attorney you will not go wrong selecting Ms. Meza.

We hired Mr. McFadden for a child court case. We reside out of state, so finding an attorney to represent us was initially very difficult. The first time I spoke with Mr. McFadden, I knew he was the attorney for us. He was always very responsive and readily available to talk to. He helped ease our anxiety and concern and knew the law extremely well. He was knowledgeable and fought hard for us. He made suggestions and helped us understand Arizona law. He was wonderful in court and we are so very happy with the outcome. We now have much more parenting time with our children and the other parent is now more cooperative. We have Mr. McFadden and the judge to thank for that. If we need a lawyer in Arizona in the future, we will definitely be going back to Mr. McFadden. He can be very blunt at times, but in my opinion, that was what was needed. He holds nothing back and is aggressive in the courtroom. He is exactly what we needed.

The Moss Law Firm is probably the most competent Law Firm that we have delt with of all my adult life! Our son was looking at horrific time on Probation not to mention Jail time. Miss Moss was able to have my son’s 1st plea removed and change it to 4 years of Probation; two of those years would be stringent, but after the two years was able to have the Judge review the case and have him placed on a much less stringent Probation. This attorney cares about her clients! And will work hard to have the best possible outcome for her clients! As far as our family is concerned, we could not be happier considering the circumstances. Sincerely, Alex G.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Tucson, Arizona?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
