In December of 2019, my grandfather and I were looking for someone to help with estate planning for both him and my grandmother. My grandmother was already very ill and my grandfather, although still alive is also not very well, and they wanted to make sure they had everything planned accordingly for when they pass. I happened to find John on Facebook through someone’s recommendation, and within a week or so he had us in his office, explaining everything and stopping at nothing to make sure they got everything they wanted and needed when it came to estate planning. As mentioned before, my grandmother was very ill from cancer and chemotherapy, and in order for her to sign the required documents, John would have to come to her. He didn’t hesitate at all to visit my grandparents personally in their home, so that she could sign what she needed and keep her wishes even during a time where she was becoming increasingly ill. My grandmother did pass 3 months later, but spoke every day as to how kind and respectful John was to her, and how he truly let her have her final wishes with the most respect and dignity. That is something that I will forever respect and appreciate, that he went to all lengths to make sure her final wishes were met. Whenever we need John, have a question or absolutely anything else, he makes himself available as soon as possible. He is the kindest, hardest working and respectful person that has ever worked with our family. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about him. If you’re looking for a knowledgeable, respectful lawyer that will go out of his way to make sure you get what you need and deserve, he is your guy! I am forever thankful that we have found him, and if we ever need any of his services again, we will absolutely never go anywhere else. Thank you John!

John was very professional and went out of his way to accommodate my elderly mother residing in a nursing home. He was very thorough in explaining all the complicated NYS laws and regulations pertaining to Trusts. I would highly recommend John for any estate planning/trusts/elder law needs you have.

I spent several days contemplating how I could write this review fairly and commending John for his services. After a death in my family, I was immediately thrown into a real estate situation which overwhelmed me to the point of helplessness. I was referred to John by a town employee who was familiar with the property involved. After a reassuring phone conversation with John, I submitted a retainer to secure his needed help. John provided me with professional advise and referrals as needed to deal with many problems such as: hazmat contractors, town negotiations and documents, real estate agents, town hearings, property water, sewer and inspection concerns, estate finances, personal property and expenses, and many more. John had a great understanding of my emotional involement with this nightmare and provided me with calm professional guidance and support from start to finish. He has a God given gift to uplift his client even when things look impossible. Thank you John for guiding me through this mission. I could not have done it alone. As we are nearing the finish line with this stressful situation, those reading this review need to know that I now consider John Musacchio to be a very good friend.

I called Evan Thompson to discuss a serious contractual dispute, and despite it being before hours, he took my call and the time to speak to me. I was ready to hire him and pay him, but he quickly outlined my situation from a legal standpoint, which made it obvious I needed to pursue other options for now. Clearly extremely competent in his field and unwilling to engage and take my money unless he felt he could be sincerely useful. He will be the first person I call should I need an attorney in this field.

I cannot thank Mr. Curl more for his help with my questions, needs, and expertise! I'd spoken to multiple attorneys/firms regarding my case and nobody was as professional or knowledgeable as Mr. Curl. Thank you again!

Adam Weisman called me as soon as he received my request for a consultation. After I reviewed my issue and gave him all the information, he immediately went to work. He gave me my options which I chose to hire him to represent me. Her drafted a letter for my approval, forwarded it. The letter was quite specific and he reviewed the laws in respect to my case. I can happily say the case was closed without having to go to court or without any follow up. He did an awesome job and I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs assistance in his area of expertise. Should any occasion occur in the future I would definitely contact him even if it would be for a referral to another type of attorney. Great job Adam!!!

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Tucson, Arizona?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
