I hired Ann after I was in a car accident. She was so professional, knowledgeable and true advocate. As a working mom I didn't have the time nor the energy to navigate the process with insurance claims, bills, etc. She handled everything and went out of her way to check in, give me updates and inquire how I was physically doing. She advocated to get all my medicals paid by the insurance company of the at fault driver and got me a settlement I feel I would have not received without her. I highly recommend her!

My family and I have worked with Willman Law Firm for years. Paul Willman has worked with us on our estate plan and updates to it for more than a decade. He is a true professional and also takes the time to get to know the people behind the work he is doing. More recently, I worked with Ann Lyons after I was in a serious car accident a couple years ago. Another driver was at fault and I brought Ann in as my representative to make sense of the insurance companies involved and what my rights were. Ann did an excellent job of helping me through the process, making sure all my medical expenses were taken care of and a good settlement was reached. I would highly recommend both Paul and Ann, they have been great resources for me.

I hired Ann Lyons as my attorney. We had one court case that only lasted an hour and a half. Before we even stepped foot into the courtroom, I had already paid 6,000. Ann somehow went through the full 6,000 with just three responses and one additional filling to the court. So I had to put an additional 3,000 into the reserves before we could go to court. Ann told me we had over 2,000 left in the reserves before we went to our one court date. The day of the court, Ann pushed the mic towards me and proceeded to let me plead my case. I ended up losing all my parental time, I have been court ordered to therapy, and Ann came out smiling saying at least you have every other week still. Please take into account that I have no criminal record or drug usage. This is simply what happens with poor representation. When I changed lawyers and went to collect my case file, they had the audacity to tell me I owe them another 5,000. Ann is an absolutely terrible lawyer and is lost half the time. She loves her name brand clothing and vacations so be very careful with their accounting system because they overcharge and neglect to post payments when they are made.

I have worked with dozens of attorneys due to the nature of previous jobs and due to personal reasons, and no one compares to Amanda. She's compassionate, knowledgable, and responds to questions in a timely manner. She doesn't only answer your questions and provides guidance, but she also empathizes with you and supports you throughout the stress that comes with navigating the court system. Having her advocate for me in a criminal case was a true blessing.

I was physically assaulted, somehow I was arrested? I spent a day in jail and had to defend myself from a family member who had assaulted me and lied. I am soooo glad I called Charnesky and Dieglio. Dina answered my call. I think it was a Sunday, she stayed on the phone and was very caring and competent and I hired her. Dina was knowledgeable, honest and forward about the charges. I live out of state and Dina and James went to court for me. My trial date was a while back and Dina and James were there for me. They were excellent and knew how to handle this case. The Judge ended up granting "acquitted-not guilty" -which is rare. I trusted them and I am so Thankful for them. I would not hesitate to hire them or recommend them!

Dina is an amazing lawyer. She knows the law and is so helpful. She walked me through the whole process and was there for me every step of the way. The best decision I've ever made was to hire Dina Dieglio. I cannot begin to think of where I might have ended up without her.

I know next to nothing about criminal law in the state of Arizona but I spoke with Ms. Dieglio and she was super helpful and knowledgeable about the steps I would need to take to resolve an outstanding matter.

My case was badly damaged by a prior attorney. Susan reviewed my very complex and comprehensive case and was able to understand the history and dynamics and the damage that was done. She strategized how to go forward, all while focused completely on the best interests of the children. The final outcome was favorable and Susan’s approach and diligence was key.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Tucson, Arizona?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
