Met with Stephanie to represent my 15 year old daughter. It was very scary for her, but Stephanie made us both feel extremely comfortable and confident, but realistic. She did everything in her power to support a positive outcome. She checked in with us regularly to let us know how things were going. She was always there by phone or text to address any of our concerns. For something that caused us a lot of stress, she was such a positive influence and guiding light. So thankful for her.

Stephanie was our lawyer for a DCS case for my granddaughter and leading all the way up to my husband and me adapting her. Stephanie is the perfect balance between being kind and having integrity and having a no-nonsense personality. She encouraged any questions concerning the case and didn`t make me feel dumb for asking. She explained what I should expect during court and had a rebuttal for any argument that opposed the end result. Prior to court Stephanie gathers all the facts (leaving no stone unturned) and explains in laymen terms how the actual hearing went afterwords. I will forever be grateful for her helping our family keep this precious little girl with us instead of going into the system. I would highly recommend Stephanie; she truly cares about the people she serves.

Stephanie Rascher recently represented a close friend of mine, in a DCS case, as he attempted to regain custody of his children. This case carried on for over 2 years and as DCS fought hard to permanently remove the children, Stephanie went above and beyond to prove that they should be reunified with their father. Stephanie believed in her client and it showed in how she represented him. She always showed up to court early and prepared. She offered guidance and prep before court. She came to court prepared with information, documents or questions that were necessary to help move the case in a positive direction for her client. She filed motions, objections, and just had an overall relentless dedication to helping my friend and his family. Not only was she a professional in the courtroom, but she was extremely knowledgeable on current laws and parents’ rights. So much so, that she actually proved in court that her client was treated unfairly by the DCS. Yes, the judge ruled in her client’s favor that he was treated unfairly. That was huge for him and helped change the course of the case! It truly helped to ensure that he was treated fairly for the remainder of DCS overseeing his case. In the end, the children were returned to my friend and the case has since closed. I honestly believe that if it were not for Stephanie and all of the support and work she put into this case, he would not have been given a fair chance to be the amazing father that he is today. We are so grateful for her and all she did to reunite him with his children. Thank you Stephanie!

Mr Boatwright represented me as my public defender a couple of years ago and he cared very much about me as a client and he cared very much about getting the best possible outcome for my case. He listened to me and explained anything I didn't understand and even told me he would assist me with filing another form once I finished paying my fines even though the case was technically over after I completed probation. I have unfortunately dealt with several different public defenders because of a family member and I have never encountered anyone that cares about their clients like Mr Boatwright, in fact, usually my encounters with my family members public defenders were the opposite and they didn't hide the fact that they didn't care about their clients or that they were unwilling to fight for their clients and would always say to take whatever plea the prosecution offered. Mr Boatwright was totally willing to go to trial and fight for me if that's what I wanted to do and anyone that has him as an attorney will be well taken care of. He will return your phone calls and he will spend the time needed in office to go over your case with you. I would definitely hire him again if I was ever in trouble again and if he was in private practice.

Russell goes above and beyond the expectations that any lawyer I have seen in a court room. His passion and charisma serve not just in the court room, but also at a personal level getting to know his client. I was a client of his for several months and I could not have gotten anyone more driven than he was. Very lucky client to have Russel as my lawyer.

Mr. Sundt advised my husband and me over several years relating to a major home renovation project. When a subcontractor seriously deviated from the contract and permitted plans, creating a halt to the entire job, Mr. Sundt was able to made a very prompt and positive settlement on our behalf. He not only has exceptional knowledge and experience in construction law, but his professionalism and demeanor make him a pleasure to work with.

Review by Rollin, retired VP of Sundt Corp I have known and worked with John for over ten years. This includes working with him at Sundt Corp, as well as his help in starting my own company. John has always been very responsive in helping with contractural legal advice on projects that I was working on, including advice on projects in Mexico. His advice and recommendations always proved to be correct. John's personality is very upbeat and cheerful, and a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend John.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Tucson, Arizona?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
