After searching and browsing the web and several days of reading reviews I believed I had finally found a lawyer to contact. Upon contacting Andrea and discussing my case with her I was reassured that this could all be resolved and I would be reunited with my children. Andrea was hired in approximately January 2022 in which I began to send all documentation supporting the facts that the mother of our children was willfully and against judges orders with-holding our children from me the father and for absolutely no good reason. Shortly here after communication with Andrea had began to lack. Lacking so much to the point of no communication for several weeks. At this time I reached out to her assistant Alex Fittin whom then informed me that she no longer works for this law firm but would reach out to her and let her know that I have been attempting to make contact. Several days later I received an email stating that she would make contact and I was again reassured that she was working on this matter and would be in touch as soon as something was founded. Again several days and weeks had passed with no communication. I began calling multiple times throughout the day in attempt to make contact via phone with no resolve. I then emailed to only get reply that she was on vacation and would be back in touch once she returned.Again several days passed and multiple phone calls and emails sent before receiving a brief phone call that she is contacting the mothers attorney in which I informed her I do not believe she has one at this time. Andrea said she was contacting her previous attorney as he (Andrew Hatfield) would still know how to reach her . July 1, 2022 I received an email stating that she had some documents drawn up and would be calling that following Tuesday to discuss with me. It is now July 21, 2022 several more phone calls and emails have been sent with no response and my church and wife have also been attempting to make contact none of which have heard back either. I feel I am back at square one bit with more distrust in lawyers as I have never felt so mislead and taken as I do now. This law firm unfortunately fits the profile that so many people already have the mindset and believe about lawyers and how they do people. And if anyone doubts the above statement please Feel free to contact me via Facebook at Kyle Kuhn it’s picture of my wife, son and myself I will be glad to share the multiple attempts and much more.

In the beginning of September 2018 my wife and I found ourselves in the unfortunate position of having to replace an attorney we had for three years, and one who was preparing for a full custody hearing the last week of October 2018. It was an answer to prayers that Mrs. Andrea McCurdy was even willing to take on our case with such short notice. It was clear to my wife and me that Andrea takes on cases she believes in, and the fact that she actually cared and showed a vested interest was the first big positive observation of ours. With very little time she extensively studied the case which had boxes of files from years of documentation. She she won our case and we were awarded full custody of my eight-year-old daughter. What has impressed me even more sense the conclusion of the custody case to present Andrea has shown a true concern and care for our case and daughter, and has continued to provide us with recommendations, directions, and insights for the best steps moving forward working with the other parent. She has often provided us with the additional recommendations and insights since the custody hearing at little cost and at times charging us no additional costs to the legal services provided. Truly showing that she cares about the cases she takes on and it's not just a paycheck for for Andrea. Lastly I am former law enforcement from two different military branches in addition to being civilian former law enforcement, and has a past police detective I had been subpoenaed to many civil court cases connected to my work at the time. As a result I've had many years of court experience, and often observed lawyers who did not take a vested interest in our clients or case. So my recommendation for Andrea McCurdy as your family law attorney comes with special insights. Hope these words are helpful for anyone that is in the process of considering Mrs. McCurdy for their new attorney.

Mr. Butt has been used by our family for multiple wills, trusts and estate planning . His advice and services have always proved to be top shelf. Recently he represented us in the sale of stock in a large family business involving multiple family members, all of which he handled with sensitivity and professionalism. We are confident that he was able to guide us to the best possible outcome. We happily recommend him.

I recommend Jack Butt strongly. Jack was my attorney during a recent litigation and I found him to be a very strong advocate, knowledgeable about legal and tax issues, and incredibly passionate about winning. I learned a great appreciation for the importance of the knowledge gained through 30+ years of experience by observing the process that he guided us through. You can't learn all of what you need to know from the books. Jack carries a vast library of knowledge gained through experience and study.

Esther White handled a bankrupsy case for me. She explained the different kinds and what the rules were for each. She was there when I went to court... unlike some other lawyers I have had in the past on other cases. She was very kind, professional, and knowledgeable.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Fayetteville, Arkansas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
