A few years ago He was hired to help with a divorce , he gave me false hope and made statements that just sounded good with no intention of following through . My temporary hearing was put off with no date rescheduled . He Wasn’t caring or helpful at all after contract was signed . He seems to only care about money . I am very disappointed. I had to start all over with a new attorney .

I interviewed 3 lawyers when I was looking for someone to help me with my case. Of the three, Doug was the most personable yet extremely professional. I felt like I was talking to a friend and his knowledge and professionalism made me feel confident in his ability to take care of my best interests. From the moment I hired Doug, he went to work and kept me informed along the way. He was very thorough and let me know what to expect at each step. He never sugar coated anything or made false promises. I will be using Doug for all of my legal matters from now on. Thank you Doug! Also, his assistant Beverly was always very kind and also very knowledgable about the process. They are an excellent team!

We contracted Doug's services for a minor custody issue with my daughter, and again a year later for a lengthy, difficult adoption. Doug's retainer fee and rates were clearly communicated and more than fair. His consultation was very straight forward. Although we were victorious in both cases, he was honest about the possibilities in both cases and never promised us a positive outcome as to not provide a false hope. Doug maintained a professional attitude while not becoming unapproachable. Doug labored tirelessly over our case. We had a very difficult adoption case that my wife and I were fearful of an unfavorable verdict. Doug applied his knowledge of the laws surrounding our case and his resources to case law, and he fought for our case. He displayed passion for the law and heart for our case that was a true comfort as we faced our 3 year battle and 3 trial hearings with MULTIPLE guardianship alterations. It was evident throughout our hearings that Doug had done his homework in reference to our situation. He was focused on the points of law and the situations in our case that would have the appropriate impact to bring about victory for our family. He is a driven attorney who loves the law and upheld the truth in every situation that we faced as we endured this trial. His current assistant, Beverly, is just as devoted to the success of Brimhall Law Firm as he is. She gives of herself to see that his clients are properly cared for. There were times when we would call with questions and she made herself available to us and was able to answer our questions and bring us peace. She was a much needed encouragement in our times of trial. Doug and Beverly are an excellent team! My family HIGHLY recommends Brimhall Law Firm to anyone in need. My son HIGHLY recommends Doug to anyone looking for an attorney! There is no other attorney out there that will give more of himself to your cause than Doug.

Brett McDaniel and his team proved to be caring and dedicated legal representatives that we encourage anyone with a malpractice case to contact. They stand above the others in many ways. We checked with several firms who would not take the case because of the complexity and risks. I even received a call from one of the firms that said I know what happen, it was wrong, and they wouldn’t take the case because of its complexity and required resources. The McDaniel Law Firm was one we contacted with broken hearts with hopes for representation. They accepted our case. Brett and his team focus on case details; provide each step of the process, and risks that are involved throughout the process. They were wonderful at keeping us informed throughout the development. They would also provide approximate time windows of when we could hear a potential case status updates. Throughout our client –attorney relationship Brett and his team remained aware of our concerns and emotional roller-coaster effects we were experiencing. Brett is a dedicated and caring person that operates outside of the box. Him and his team has a permanent spots of love and respect for the care they provided throughout the time they represented us. We recommend them to anyone who desires to have their case reviewed for representation.

This is the most straight forward and hard working attorney I have ever came in contact with. He doesn't tell his clients what they want to hear. He tells them the truth and what to expect and doesn't hold anything back. Some may not care for the way he conducts business with his clients, but he wants his clients to win and in order to do so he breaks them down and builds them back up so they will know what to expect in court. If you have any sort of domestic relations case, this is by far the best attorney to seeking legal counsel from in the state of Arkansas.

My husband and i had problems with our children and had an emergency case that he took last min. Within hrs we had a positive outcome. The price was well worth having our children. He listened and wasnt rude and came across to genuinely care. If we have further issues we will be contacting him again.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Jonesboro, Arkansas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
