I’m a 100% Disabled Combat Wounded Veteran that was in a coma (documented) when a supposed case was brought against me. I explained to this firm I was never served nor given my due process of law and still have never seen the supposed judgment and they still harass me and try to garnish my wages from a supposed judgment over 8 years ago. Then they go after my new wife who just legally immigrated here 3 years ago and has nothing to do with this at all. Due to my disability I needed more time to have someone help with the paperwork that is being sent to me incomplete and it’s repeatedly sent back saying not returned in time. Profiting off soldiers that have absolutely no way to defend themselves is a great business model. Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should… P.S. I never consulted Michael Collins but this review requires you to fill every block.

Mike was referred to me by my uncle who he helped over 10 years ago! His paralegal was amazing on the phone and via email ! Both were extremely helpful! My initial call was about 2-3 weeks before my hearing and a holiday in between that, they didn’t forget about my case and kept in contact with me.. I contacted a lawyer prior to mike who was trying to charge me triple of what Mike charges due to my unemployment case . Mike saved me a lot of money, was professional , and prepared. this was one of the best investments of my life! Thank you Mike and team!

I needed help quickly. He started on the case before receiving money and took the time to explain everything throughly. More helpful and less expensive than most attorneys I have dealt with.

We were referred to Moore Law and to Monica in order to resolve a Social Security number situation for our son, whom we adopted from China 5 years ago. From the outset, Monica went above and beyond, and in our case, the process took over a year and a half to conclude. This was due to its complexity and also the impact of Covid-19, meaning that the courts were not open, and nothing would have happened had Monica not gone to bat personally for us to push this through. I should add that we are now located in the UK, and cannot travel, so without Monica personally shepherding this process, we would not have been able to travel to get the SS number once we had the CA court adoption papers. Monica was caring, understanding, professional, and ingenious in coming up with ways to resolve our situation. We highly recommend Monica and Moore Law for any child/adoption legal services that anyone might have. Thank you, Monica, so much!

Monica was very responsive when we first contacted her and made our entire family comfortable when we met in person. After that first meeting, we felt that she would be very supportive leading us through this extremely emotional time, but before we hired her we did our due diligence by checking her background and references just to make sure we’re making the right decision . Throughout the entire process our initial impression of Monica solidified . Whenever we contacted her with a question or concern she responded almost immediately . She knows what she’s doing, pays attention to detail, and also provides considerable emotional support. We would recommend Monica to anyone in need of the services she provides.

Two things/entities I am always apprehensive of lawyers and politicians. However, my experience with Angela Mestre changed my perspective about lawyers entirely. From the onset, she was extremely knowledgeable about her expertise and she offers a personal narrative allowing one to be comfortable about an uncomfortable process. She was able to take me from A to Z rather fluidly in the BK process. I highly recommend Angela for hire and would prefer her 7 days a week and twice on Sundays. As for politicians, she was not able to change my mind about them.

Hiring Angela Mestre was the best decision I made. I was stuck drowning in debt and felt so overwhelmed by the information I was reading online. I decided to contact Angela and she responded almost immediately! She answered all of my questions and even put my mind at ease that this was a fixable problem and I can get out from under it. She made me feel like I deserved a fresh start and that it was ok to ask for help. I was put at ease during the entire process and she walked me through step by step. She is super responsive and is always available to answer your questions or concerns. I highly recommend the services of Angela Mestre to anyone who is facing or considering bankruptcy.

I worked for years with Bill as a colleague. He is a highly ethical and thoughtful lawyer, who is willing to find the settlement in a case, but also willing to litigate aggressively if and when necessary. He is also extremely personable, and well-liked and respected, which are essential to solid representation in Orange County. I would whole heartedly recommend Bill to anyone looking for honest, well-informed representation.

  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Aliso Viejo, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
