Beth Davis has been an exemplary attorney to me for multiple years. I hired Beth and her team and have not been dissatisfied with my choice yet. She has always fought for me and has always gotten me results that I am happy with. Beth, always responds to me quickly which I appreciate enormously as I know how busy she can be. She also takes the time to explain thoroughly anything I do not understand or need more information about. I also sense that she is very caring to all of her clients, as that she how she treats me. She has respected me and made me feel that she would take care of anything that was in her power. I would not have been able to get the results that she got me on my own and it is so helpful to not have that stress solely on me.

I’m a person who doesn’t write reviews but I felt compelled to write a review for Beth Davis and Noemi Cuevas at Kantor & Kantor, LLP. I first reached out to K&K when my LTD application was denied. Beth represented my appeal and from the beginning made me feel at ease with the process by asking questions with compassion. She is extremely detailed and presented an appeal to my LTD insurance company where it was turned over in just days, not weeks, not months, but days. Noemi Cuevas, Legal Assistant, was on point with providing and requesting necessary documents. Noemi is thoughtful, down to earth, and made this process super easy. Everyone I worked with from the initial interview (Thank You, Amy!) to representation is personable, respectful and quickly responds to any questions asked. I highly recommend Beth Davis and Kantor and Kantor, LLP!

Beth Davis and her legal assistant Noemi Cuevas with Kantor & Kantor helped me appeal my long term disability claim. Beth was extremely thorough, and easy to reach. She brought the appropriate resources to my claim, and kept me informed during the process. My claim with my private insurance carrier was successful, and I was thoroughly pleased it was done quickly. I now look forward to receiving future benefits making it easier to manage my disability. I highly recommend Beth Davis as attorney, to anyone needing representation in connection with disability matters.

I went on disability since 2002 from a rare medical problem. In 2019, the insurance carrier decided to terminate my benefits. After I contacted several LTD lawyers, I chose Beth Davis and her firm for my appeal because they were compassionate, professional, and knowledgeable from the beginning. There were always clear communications each step of the way. Beth and her team guided me through the process. She was always there to answer my questions. She was prompt in returning all my messages. She also updated me on the status regularly. I feel I can trust her and her firm 100%. In the end, she helped me to overturn the denial decision in less a month after we submitted the appeal. I really appreciate everyone’s help from the bottom of my heart. I would highly recommend her and her firm to anyone who needs help with his/her disability claim. Thank You!

Kantor & Kantor recently consummated a private insurance claim dating as back as 2014 for me. This is an extraordinary accomplishment in light of one to two decades of medical records that Kantor & Kantor's lawyers and staff had to comb through in a thorough research for presentation of the case. This proves that Kantor & Kantor, which enjoys good reputation among and is highly respected by the league of attorneys, is indeed a professional company that knows what it does, understands the complicated laws related to employment claims, ERISA, public and private disability, and retirement benefits, etc., and delivers the result. Throughout the process, that took approximately one year to as long as one and half years, Kantor & Kantor's lawyers, like Michelle Roberts and Beth Davis, and founder Glenn Kantor, gave me treatment like a V.I.P, with care rendered to the minute details. Kantor & Kantor's paralegal staff, like Kelli, treated me more than a client as she kept me in constant contact, always thinking ahead of processes and constantly providing a personal touch in communications. I am very grateful that I was referred to so prestigious a company like Kantor & Kantor to get the claim matter resolved, that might not be otherwise qualified under the stringent legally blind requirement, and am greatly thankful to Kantor & Kantor for making it possible to have a meaningful financial solution, something I deemed as a star rising to the sky.

Michelle is such a warrior of an Attorney. She doesnt have all the big shiny legal offices with hundreads of people doing the work. Its all her she works her ass off for her clients and does what ever she can to win the litigation. The one quality she has over every other attorney I've seen is her willingness not to back down no matter what. She took on a huge insurance company and their huge "high powered attorney's" with their huge firm and didn't blink.

Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Altadena, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
