In the past year, I've had a couple of major tenant/landlord issues. I've dealt with Jeff and September who make up a great team. Both understand tenants' rights and are humane and friendly. Two words that I would never use to describe most attorneys I know. Both are very responsive and professional. Jeff has exceptional analytical and logical reasoning. Jeff uses strategy and thinks your case through for the best outcome possible for his client, especially one under stress. September Katje researched my case in a timely manner and was able to send me an e-mail answering all my questions. September made sure she gave me all the accurate information I needed to feel comfortable. Her research skills are on point. I liked not having a typical formal attorney letter and an e-mail was so much faster. This law firm is definitely in the 21st Century! Jeff is the best. He is the first attorney I've ever come across in my life that actually tried to save me money and was beyond fair. I hope this law firm maintains their wonderful work ethic as they become more and more successful. By the way, we prevailed in my case.

It was a great experience, after losing all our belongings in a flood my son and I were displaced by our property management. We were left with nothing and CLLC came to the rescue. They are very professional yet friendly and got me a great settlement. Now I am able to rebuild my life. I would recommend them to all my family and friends.

Our Attorney Jeffrey Ogorek Esq. and his team was great it was a pleasure working with him and his team Lina and Laura they were wonderful this firm is very professional they resolved our problem with a Realestate contractor case. We were being sued for $83,000 for a non payment. Of course this was not true. I had all the invoices paid in full. But the other party was being dishonest including his attorney that was representing him they made our lives a living hell with threatening phone calls at home drive by's on our street. We learned an important lesson always check the contractors lic# and look it up before hiring, never pay cash pay with your personal check or credit card or don't hire that contractor to do the job. Not this firm CLLC Represented me & my husband they did a great job in this legal battle. Now our case is closed this was quick it was done in less in two weeks. We were never disrespected in any way throughout this process. You can trust CLLC The retainer here at CLLC was fair the fees were fair they worked hard on our case against the other party. Our attorney explained everything up front at our first appointment. They do accept credit cards which is very helpful. They were patient and trustworthy which we appreciate. The office provided us with emails of copies of letters etc. including a check of remaining funds that was not used during the retainer was refunded to us. We recommend this firm and Attorney Jeffrey Ogorek to service our community to assist you in your legal needs he will fight for you. They are trustworthy and they are great listeners they offer assistance when they represent you they are available to you 24 hours 7 days a week. This was comforting considering we came into their office on a Friday evening. They worked over the weekend I provided all the copies of invoices contracts etc. pertaining to this case so they can contact via email & mail out a certified letter to the other parties attorney on Monday morning of that following week. We are impressed 100% Satisfied with this firm with Jeffrey and his staff good job, Many blessings to all of you and Thank you for assisting us and thank you for staying in Anaheim.

I hired Mr. Gulino to handle a complex employment matter. He had been refered to me by another lawyer. Before I knew it he had it resolved and the result was beyond my expectations. His bill to me was extremely reasonable. I am glad he was available to help me.

I have known Tom professionally for about 10 years. We are members of mediation panels together and he assists me when I teach mediation and negotiation tasks. As a negotiator and mediator, Tom is organized, extremely knowledgeable and employs reliable, proven techniques. Particularly in complex cases needing an Arbitrator or Mediator, Tom is an excellent choice and easily as effective as any retired judicial officer. Additionally, Tom is personable and open; he always has a smile for everyone. Good man.

What Questions Should I Ask Before Hiring a Lawyer?

Hiring the right lawyer is crucial for the success of your case. Here are some important questions to ask during your initial consultation:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Anaheim Hills, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
