First off, my wife and I would like to thank Edyta for the amazing work she did with our case. We came with Edyta based on reviews we found pertaining to past cases of hers. My wife being a United States citizen was petitioning for me to get my permanent residency. Edyta went above and beyond to find the best, easiest, fastest, and most economical way of us getting our case fixed. We filed for Advanced Parole and got approved, and right after we started our journey to getting my Resident card approved. Edyta does expect you to do your part in providing her and Immigration with as much evidence as possible to have your case be as strong as possibly can be. So, be ready to do some work, but her hard work does not go unnoticed. Her amazing work got our case approved and if you are looking for an immigration attorney look no further than Mrs. Edyta. She is amazing and we can promise you that you will not regret it.

My wife and I can't express how grateful we are to Edyta Grant. Edyta gave me - Strong Advice that I took to help me get my wife home. We were caught at the pandemic outbreak, which set us back months. The slow process of both our governments was the biggest stress because of lockdowns and flying restrictions. But Edyda was there for us and she guided us through this difficult time. When I was losing hope, I was planning to move to my wife's country. But that was the time when Edyta really gave me hope with her Strong Advice. That Advice was what pushed my wife's Visa to really get moving, and it did!! Now, on November 24, 2021, My wife finally came home to me. And after 3 years, this stress is finally gone - All Due To Edyta's Hard Work and guiding us through this long process. Hire Edyta if anybody needs a strong, honest, and dedicated imagination attorney, and you won't be disappointed. From the bottom of our hearts, all we can say is "Thank You So Much Edyta!" They are truly no words to express how grateful I am to have by my side the best immigration lawyers, not just in Bakersfield CA but in the entire world EDYTA-CHRITINA G. GRANT. I just received my permanent resident card. EDYTA is 110% by your side from being to end. She will fight for your case until it gets approved. She has strategies to get your caes keep moving forward. In my case it was a lot different from all the cases. My husband is a US citizen and in prison and EDYTA was still able to get him to petition me from prison, she was working with the prison to get him to sign documents and to get all his information even on the immigration interview she was able to excuse him to not attend the interview. EDYTA is amazing lawyer who put all her time and dedication to answer all your questions no matter the time and place. It could be late at night or early in the morning. She always keeped me on top of everything, she always gave me confidence and keeped me ready for my interview. She attended by phone the day of my interview and she was amazing through the whole interview making sure if any mistakes were made, she made sure it was corrected. She even took the time to wait for me to get to my car once the interview was over and called me and congratulte me on becoming a permanent resident. EDYTA takes the time to get to know you as a person and knows how important becoming a part of the united state is. EDYTA I want to thank you from my husband and I. And say that we were blessed to have you as our attorney. We couldn't ask for a better immigration lawyer, you are truly the BEST. EDYTA was worth every penny that we invested for her services. We even should and appointment 3 years from now to represent me as my attorney to apply for my citizenship that's how good EDYTA is as an immigration attorney. I will 1000% recommend EDYTA as the best immigration lawyers there ever is.

My wife & I met with David to assist us with Estate planning and the drafting of a will, living trust, and other associated documents. Our experience meeting with David was that he was very knowledgeable, trustworthy and personable. He discussed our various options and made sure we understood the ramifications of various decisions. His turnaround on preparation of the documents was impressive and really quick. He was accomodating in meeting with us on short notice to complete the documents and arrange signing. Overall we were pleased with the services we were provided and would have no hesitation in recommending David to others.

I worked with David over the course of 1 year on formation of my start-up restaurant. My primary concerns were having an attorney who was well-rounded, I could trust and would inform me "start to finish" on legal aspects of my business launch. David exceeded my expectations and I would highly recommend him to others.

I worked with David on forming a living trust for my wife and my self. He was upfront with us about what the process would take, and his response time and he was true to his word. I have called him a few times since we completed our trust and he answered basic questions for me at no cost. I would recommend David to anyone who is looking to avoid probate.

I was 23 when this situation occurred. I was coming home after a graveyard shift to find my daughter awake at 5 in the morning with her mother and a man I had never met inside my home. Drugs on the table and both of them belligerently drunk. The stranger made threatening advances and one thing led to another and I ended up fearing for my life and shooting him twice. I have never found myself in any serious legal trouble before this incident but I was later charged with 2 felonies (assault with a deadly weapon, intent to terrorize). I had one and only one offer for the majority of 4 years. The court's offer was flat out 7 years in prison. The situation being as serious as it was I knew I needed the best lawyer by my side regardless of charge or distance. I spent many hours scouring reviews and online results of every local lawyer in Bakersfield and Mark definitely stood out from the crowd. Results don't lie and Mark's price wasn't any more than any other lawyer of his caliber. I knew from our very first meeting that I had made a great choice and instantly retained him, and so our 4 year journey began. Mark's a master of his craft and knows all the ins and outs of the court system. My case was dragged on for four years in my favor. With COVID-19 all major courts processes were slowed down for nearly two years. I believe this case was not a race but a slow and steady marathon. Although you may want your case done as quickly as possible, which can certainly happen.. I felt Mark's ability to drag my case out until the perfect timing was a game changer. Some lawyers want to get you in and out and wipe their hands clean of your case, but Mark was willing to stay patient and diligent and work with me long term which I greatly appreciated. His staff was always helpful and informative through the whole process. There were no hidden fees or agendas and they always made me feel confident in everything they helped with. Fast forward to just a few weeks ago and my prayers have been answered. The day before trial was set I accepted a miraculous new offer which I was so happy to accept. Mark's work paid off and he was able to get the DA to offer me NO FELONIES, 1 MISDEMEANOR ASSAULT THAT WILL BE DISMISSED WITHIN A YEAR. This means I was put in a horrible situation that I felt I needed to use deadly force and I shot someone, got charged with 2 major felonies, was facing 7 years in prison, and Mark somehow got me sentenced with the same charge as someone could receive for a street fight! If you're reading this, look no further. When you are dealing with your life on the line you don't have any room to leave this up for chance. You need a strong, experienced, reputable lawyer, who will stay by your side no matter how long it takes and will give you the confidence and relief you need during your difficult times.

I couldn't be more pleased with Kurt Van Sciver and his firm for my contested inheritance case. Kurt was very professional and efficient, is a good listener and his questions always cut to the chase, was patient in explanations of the legal requirements and many phases of the documentation, handled the negotiations for a settlement without me having to be present, kept me well apprised for meeting him at the 3 court appearances and filed the many papers that were a part of closing this up legally. His cost estimate was spot on and he stayed within budget. I would definitely recommend him for Trust & Estate Law.

Kurt and his staff are truly amazing. I have gone through hell and back and he helped me get out of a very ugly probate situation. He was calm, even when I was not. He was clear and concise and remained very organized when I was not. His demeanor was much more respectful than the Nichols could ever be. Kurt never had a bad word about my ex-family, yet Nichols did towards me. Kurt will always be there for you on your journey with patience and excellence.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Bakersfield, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
