Pros
1
Knowledgeable and experienced attorneys who are skilled in family law
“Al Provinziano and his entire team of associates and clerical staff was exceptional. I personally had interactions with Al, June, Ava, Alexis, CJ and Aleah, and every single person I spoke to or met in person went above and beyond to make me feel supported during the very stressful process of advocating for a custody arrangement.”
2
Compassionate and supportive team that cares about clients' wellbeing
“You won't find a more compassionate & thoughtful group to represent you. Provinziano & Associates does outstanding work. They know the facts of the law and the best legal approaches for achieving your goals.”
3
Aggressive and effective representation in court
“Al is a very skilled family law attorney. He built my case on solid ground with thorough reports and analysis. He was able to settle the case because of his confidence which was backed up by his thorough efforts to really know my situation and the strong evidence he gathered to prepare to protect my rights in a court room, if necessary.”
4
Attentive and responsive communication with clients
“Throughout the entirety of the process the professionalism and compassion shown by Mr. Provinziano and staff was remarkable! I also appreciated the response time as well as the accessibility of staff when necessary.”
5
Successful outcomes for clients, including favorable custody arrangements and financial settlements
“I came away from court with everything I'd been fighting for. I hope to never have to call Al and his team again, but if anything else goes awry, I know who I can count on to help me.”
Cons
1
High legal fees that can quickly deplete retainer funds
“They blow through it as quickly as they receive it. Charges you for even thinking of calling him. I've known other people whose retainer was $3000 and lasted them over 6 months. Our retainer was gone the first three months. In a span of ”
2
Lack of personal attention from the lead attorney, with cases sometimes handed off to associates
“Al Provinziano was not prepared, was soft spoken and did not defend his client the way he should have. Even the judge seemed unimpressed with his representation. It was an embarrassment to be represented by him and a complete waste of money. He may seem genuine in his initial interview with his clients, but then completely detaches from the case and hands you off to his staff.”

Sadly I must review my experience with this law firm. There appears to be MANY negative reviews with similar complaints regarding this firm, too many actually and date back over a decade. Check for yourself on Google, Yelp, BBB, Pissed Consumer and other sites. Hindsight, I should of used the clinic at the courthouse that offers assistance with legal matters. This has been the most devastating burden in our life and based on our experience and opinion it appears to point in the direction of recurring issues that resonates with other posted negative reviews. I can offer some constructive consumer feedback to help protect the public before hiring an attorney. (FYI: The information below is available for public consumption) *Check the State Bar Website. DONOT hesitate to use it to follow up with a bad experience.. It's the insurance to protect the public and defer misconduct and unethical behaviors. Its success hinges on the public's help. *The State Bar Client Security Fund may be of assistance due to an attorneys dishonesty. *Check the attorneys business information on the Secretary Of State website. This is a Tall Tale if you understand their procedures and codes. *Attorney cases can be reviewed at the court house. *Review your billing within 5 days and if you see any issues (such as: is the retainer fee depleted without any completed work) inquire in writing immediately! The billing practice should not be "creative and collaborative " immediately start to make notes on the bills and DOCUMENT DOCUMENT. Save all correspondence, invoices and statements. If threatened with severing of representation over billing questions: STOP DROP AND ROLL... *READ the contract, it may seem ok on the face.... is it UNBALANCED to the unsuspecting? *Maintain a call log. *Note "complimentary services" then bill you ( court reminders which by the way are generated by the court for free). *Free consultation, then bill you. Give your head a shake. *DOCUMENT EVERYTHING. *It's important for every consumer to help protect the public with hopes that law firms have significant insight to their oath and professional responsibility. If you suspect foul play due to indiscretions meet and confer with the District Attorneys Office. One more thing: "we treat you like family" it's a cliche. ("A cliché is an expression, idea, or action that has been overused to the point of seeming worn out, stale, ineffective, or meaningless" ) I hope this finds you

I’d contacted William’s office this past Sunday, fully understanding that perhaps I may not get a callback until the next business day. My goodness, I was so shocked and thrilled to get a callback from William within just a couple of hours! Our friends were at the airport ready to fly home when they were taken away by TSA agents and we couldn’t understand why. William took down pertinent information and immediately got to work. I could tell he was working tirelessly to get answers because his communication skills were beyond amazing. I didn’t have to worry about not hearing from him at all. Happy to say that my friends are back home without any issues. I’m truly grateful for William’s hard work and dedication for my situation. He’s now saved as my favorite in my phone. I can’t recommend William enough. His knowledge, resources, and experience alone makes him the only lawyer I’d ever need. Highly recommend!

I met Al Provinziano and his team, summer of 2020. It was an absolute nightmare of a situation. They all reassured me everything would work out, and at the time that was hard to believe. By the grace of God, everything worked out in the best interest of my son. We are now approximately 4 years out since things were finalized and Eli is thriving! I understand having a father figure is imperative but in our situation his biological father was doing more harm than anything else. Dad is now attempting to force himself back into our son’s life. I have advised him I will refile for a new RO if he doesn’t stop with the unnecessary messages he’s sending me to relay to Eli. Dad is pushing for direct communication and a meaningful relationship. Eli wants nothing to do with him. Eli has drastically improved and getting ready to graduate 8th grade, and begin his high school journey. ALL thanks to you and your team Al. THANK YOU! Financially it was difficult for my family and I but let me tell you, their services were worth every penny. Plus they worked with us. I throw this in there because it’s important to be transparent as we all know money plays a huge role in being able to retain an attorney or not. When you find yourself helpless and hopeless, like I was. I was not willing to jeopardize my sons well being because I was worried about money. It took a village, I asked for financial help from my loved ones. A humbling experience and I would do it again if I had to. Seeing my sons mental, emotional, psychological and physical health sky rocket was all I prayed for, and grateful for today. Eli will succeed and this firm contributed to that.

We are very pleased with the continuous support and help of the Provinziano team, specifically Jacob our Associate Attorney. We’re going through a difficult child custody case but the diligence and hard-work of our legal team has made the process bearable. Although there’s never a guarantee for results, we appreciate the honesty in what we could expect to happen. The communication has been excellent and clear. Response times are almost immediate and getting updates without having to follow up has been a relief. Jacob has been ruthless in his dedication to build a strong case. He’s been knowledgeable, skilled with the preparation process, and court proceedings. He’s gone above & beyond with extensive research and keeping organized. All the necessary documents were quickly filed once the case was taken. It has been an exceptionally positive experience working with him and we couldn’t be happier with the quality of work and valuable expertise. We still have a lengthy road ahead of us but we’re confident in Jacob and the team. They have fought hard for us thus far and no doubt will continue to do so. We’re proud to be working with Provinziano & Associates and would highly recommend working with them.

Usman was stupendous, professional, courteous, honest, and cognizant from the start! Given the many variables and complexity involved in forming a business entity, registering a trademark, registering a copyright, registering an EIN, determining whether a terms of usage and privacy policy agreement is required, and reviewing health disclaimers for an eBook, Usman was highly cooperative and responsive making me feel at ease. He answered my comprehensive emails succinctly and thoroughly. He recommended a service called Markify for conducting additional trademark searches outside of USPTO's database. He even went so far in responding very efficiently over the weekend, outside of business hours. That innate gesture is definitely praiseworthy and exceptional given time was not on my side nor was it for Usman. I needed answers quickly, even though I didn't explicitly mention these sentiments to him because that would be too impractical and idiotic. He understood my situation with all the nuances and did everything in my best interests to secure all the legal knots in a timely fashion without any hiccups. When it came to billing, he was cognizant of keeping me abreast of the total hours he spent on specific tasks. Using LawTrades, he took the time out of his hectic schedule to list the estimated project fees including all fixed upfront costs for registering the business and his hourly review rate. His financial transparency gave me a pretty good cost picture of his services with no surprises! Additionally, Usman telephonically walked me through the step-by-step instructions for obtaining an EIN for an LLC. That made the entire process seamless, saving me much valuable time. All and all, I would highly recommend Usman if you're looking for an intellectual property lawyer, creating a legal entity for your business, reasonable legal fees, and state-of-the-art service. Thank you Usman, for all your hard work, patience, and timely responses for consciously completing all my outstanding requests from start to finish!

I recently contacted Usman Shaikh for advice with my tech startup company after speaking with local attorneys that were not very helpful. We decided to contact Usman because of his background in the field and his impressive resume. He was able to give us great advice for our company, help draft corporate documents and help us file some important trademarks. He was very professional and knowledgeable during our conversations. I would recommend Usman to anyone and he would be the first person I contact if I need legal consultation again.

This firm, and Della more specifically, were incredible to work with. Della took my case without any hesitation and handled every curve ball that got thrown our way tactfully. She got me everything I asked for and more. Della knows exactly how much your case is worth and supports you through every step of the way. She turned a stressful situation into a happy ending for me. I can only hope I will not need need her services again, but if I ever find myself in need I know exactly who to go to.

This law firm won my case for me! Della Shaker was with me every step of the way. She was honest, professional, and she let me know the process in detail. I had a discrimination and harassment case against a big company. I feared taking them on until I met her. She got the job done, and I highly recommend her or anyone in this firm for your case.

I was in big trouble, the first advise I received was "take the deal". Bruce would not let me do that, he didn't want anything on my record... so we fought, with motions, testimony and the truth. Proudly I'm now part of his Win List, Thank you Mr. Margolin!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Beverly Hills, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
