When I discovered that my former employer had fabricated complete lies about my conduct at work and attempted to slander my name and also succeeded in getting my rightful unemployment denied to me I was at a complete loss of what to do. I called a number of lawyers who were all dismissive and/or told me I didn't have a case. I was starting to feel really disheartened and didn't think there would be a way out of this and that my former company would get away with all of these heinous untruths and lack of justice. Then - Assaf called me back after leaving a message at his firm. He was incredibly willing and open to speak to me and hear all of the particulars of the case completely. His energy was fantastic and he said we have a case! Throughout the weeks leading up to the hearing he was always available and we spoke many times and he was always willing to give me an enormous amount of his time and energy. He guided me through the entire process and helped me to see what was important and what wasn't in regards to the case. On the day of the hearing we were prepared and ready and we laid out the entire truth of the whole situation to the judge. A few days later we got the decision - we had won! I honestly don't believe I would have made it without him because he was emotionally supportive and prevented me from giving up. His fee was reasonable and his willingness to work with my financial situation was admirable. He was pretty much fantastic. He also helped me to keep all of my integrity and honesty and we won fair and square. I would want him to help me in any legal matters whatsoever. He is a real honest guy and he changed my life with his counsel.

Assaf Lichtash did an amazing job with my court case. He always responded to any of my questions in a fast manner. He kept me informed and up to date with my court case. Also, the price for his service was very reasonable. I highly recommend Assaf to anyone who is having trouble with their court case.

I had been ripped off by my previous employers, and for a whole year, they refused to answer a demand letter sent to them by the first attorney. When I got to Mr. Assaf Lichtash, he was very welcoming and positive about getting me my unpaid wages. In a short time, he sent communication to the parties and aggressively pursued the case. They would use underhanded tactics like failing to reply in time, until he took them court. They finally agreed to settle out of court, and Mr. Lichtash successfully negotiated a reasonable settlement on my behalf. I am really grateful to him, his wonderful staff, and the professional manner in which he handled case. I highly recommend Mr. Assaf Lichtash to all those with unpaid wages claims. He is very knowledgeable and helpful.

I went threw an appeal with a preliminary hearing judge against the CEO and the superintendent of the company I was previously working for I know I wasn't in the wrong for applying for benefits so I figured now all I had to do was point out the obvious to the judge wich was " that I wasn't doing anything wrong and that my old boss's were full of sh!t ". Probably not the most appropriate way to express myself but after what I was put threw because this judge was blind or to lazy or maybe just didn't know how to do his job, cause he denied me on my appeal and ruled against me so then I did an appeal with the appeals board wich no party's from eighther side attend and three judges come to a decision and I also lost that cuz 2 out of the three judges ruled against me and I was taking it pretty hard with only one last and final decision that could be made by taking an appeal to the last level that is not easy and not to heard of and I most definitely couldn't have done it if I didn't decide to have Assaf file and complete my "petition Writ of Mandate" wich i basically a process that is not short but definitely do not regret thanks to Assaf and his ability to take a case like mine that had no need to be taken as far as it did had the first preliminary hearing judge made a wise and proper decision based on the facts of my case wich Assaf was able to understand after reviewing my case that he felt was worth taking it to superior court for a last and final decision that neither the E.D.D. nor I could appeal after the ruling of a superior court judge listening to why I chose the motion to petition wich Assaf was more than qualified educated and happy to explain that the laws applied by the E.D.D to me did not apply and were also applied with unesasary penalties and various inappropriate consequences. And after a long but worth it experience, Assaf told me he would do his best to present a strong case to show that my defense was not violating the law and after doing that for me on February 10, 2017, the judge reversed the E.D.D.'s decision I won the case and I will definitely be more than happy to go threw with any case if I can always have Assaf Lichtash representing me

I actually decided to hire Assaf from reading the reviews off of Avvo and it was the best decision I could have made. I received a letter from EDD saying I owed them nearly $10,000 in overpayments stemming from 2003. I had no idea what to do or where to turn and in no way could I pay this back. I Went on the internet to do some research and everything i read basically said I need to pay it back. I Was beside myself with stress and had no idea how I was going to pay this back. I Was lucky enough to come across Assaf and gave him a call to explain my situation. I Went into his office for a consultation and after I left, I was faced with the realization we would be fighting an uphill battle. Assaf, was honest, he explained everything to me, took his time, always answered my phone calls, emails and any questions I had. We finally got a court date, I was beyond stressed that day as I'm sure you can imagine! I was totally prepared due to Assaf's wonderful preparation strategy, so I go in and I'm sitting in front of the judge and be asks me questions that Assaf had already prepared me for and everything was smooth. The judge was a really nice guy ( i didn't expect that) everything was based on what I could remember because my case was over 13 years old ( I must have set a record for having such an old case) so we get done with the hearing and it wasn't nearly as stressful as I had imagined due to the fact that Assaf was with me through the whole thing, it was like he was on trial also. I received the verdict in the mail a few days later and was so nervous to open the letter! When I finally opened it (after a glass of water and my hands stopped shaking) I couldn't believe what I was reading! The judgment was reversed! I had actually won! I can't tell you the shock that I felt! My chin was on the floor! This nightmare was finally over and we had won!!!! I must say, if you are reading this becuse you or someoneyou know needs an EDD attorney for any reason do yourself a BIG and call this firm! The price was cheaper than I thought it would be, and Assaf is someone you want/need to fight for you! Take it from a guy who had an uphill fight like you wouldn't believe! I had a losing situation that was over 13 years old and somehow Assaf with his knowledge of the system managed to get me a verdict I didn't think was possible! Please call him! It Will be the best decision you make!

Usman was stupendous, professional, courteous, honest, and cognizant from the start! Given the many variables and complexity involved in forming a business entity, registering a trademark, registering a copyright, registering an EIN, determining whether a terms of usage and privacy policy agreement is required, and reviewing health disclaimers for an eBook, Usman was highly cooperative and responsive making me feel at ease. He answered my comprehensive emails succinctly and thoroughly. He recommended a service called Markify for conducting additional trademark searches outside of USPTO's database. He even went so far in responding very efficiently over the weekend, outside of business hours. That innate gesture is definitely praiseworthy and exceptional given time was not on my side nor was it for Usman. I needed answers quickly, even though I didn't explicitly mention these sentiments to him because that would be too impractical and idiotic. He understood my situation with all the nuances and did everything in my best interests to secure all the legal knots in a timely fashion without any hiccups. When it came to billing, he was cognizant of keeping me abreast of the total hours he spent on specific tasks. Using LawTrades, he took the time out of his hectic schedule to list the estimated project fees including all fixed upfront costs for registering the business and his hourly review rate. His financial transparency gave me a pretty good cost picture of his services with no surprises! Additionally, Usman telephonically walked me through the step-by-step instructions for obtaining an EIN for an LLC. That made the entire process seamless, saving me much valuable time. All and all, I would highly recommend Usman if you're looking for an intellectual property lawyer, creating a legal entity for your business, reasonable legal fees, and state-of-the-art service. Thank you Usman, for all your hard work, patience, and timely responses for consciously completing all my outstanding requests from start to finish!

I recently contacted Usman Shaikh for advice with my tech startup company after speaking with local attorneys that were not very helpful. We decided to contact Usman because of his background in the field and his impressive resume. He was able to give us great advice for our company, help draft corporate documents and help us file some important trademarks. He was very professional and knowledgeable during our conversations. I would recommend Usman to anyone and he would be the first person I contact if I need legal consultation again.

This firm, and Della more specifically, were incredible to work with. Della took my case without any hesitation and handled every curve ball that got thrown our way tactfully. She got me everything I asked for and more. Della knows exactly how much your case is worth and supports you through every step of the way. She turned a stressful situation into a happy ending for me. I can only hope I will not need need her services again, but if I ever find myself in need I know exactly who to go to.

This law firm won my case for me! Della Shaker was with me every step of the way. She was honest, professional, and she let me know the process in detail. I had a discrimination and harassment case against a big company. I feared taking them on until I met her. She got the job done, and I highly recommend her or anyone in this firm for your case.

I was in big trouble, the first advise I received was "take the deal". Bruce would not let me do that, he didn't want anything on my record... so we fought, with motions, testimony and the truth. Proudly I'm now part of his Win List, Thank you Mr. Margolin!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Beverly Hills, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
