I found Jeff thru the OC lawyer websites. I’m very happy I did. He was worked diligently to resolved, defend and ultimately achieve the result I wanted and more importantly needed. He did NOT let anything slide or get by him and in a lot of cases educated and enhanced the large LA legal team that was in joint defense for the corporation I worked for. He has my top most recommendation.

Mr. Lurner represented my case with aggresiveness and passion. He is very trustworthy and a strong advocate for those he represents. I have recommended Mr. Lurner to a few of my friends/associates. I wouldn't hesitate to utilize his services, should I ever need to, again.

I had an extremely complicated case which encompassed every aspect of my business and Mr. Lurner handled each of the individual components in an amazing manner. I have had numerous situations that required legal counsel and have found Mr. Lurner to be the most competent , compassionate, and easy to work with. His strategy is brilliant (as is he) and is unequaled in his expertise. I feel that any case you would bring him , he would win for you. I can highly recommend his services without reservation.

My prior attorney had monumentally bungled my disability discrimination case. Jeff rode in to the rescue with flair, determination and immediate results. He put my case back on track and through hard negotiations, got me a fair settlement that protected my rights. If you're Jeff's client, he passionately fights for your cause. You feel like you have a strong ally. He also has a great sense of humor, which makes interacting with him all the better. He's easy to reach when you have questions, and I couldn't recommend him more highly.

I cannot express how amazing Andrew and the whole Walkon firm are. Andrew was professional yet personal to our situation. He truly was the best lawyer I could have asked for. We came to the law firm with a case that others turned down. My husband was still in bad shape mentally and medically from what he endured. Andrew and the Walkon firm was very understanding and was there for him through every process. He makes you feel like you are not just another client but a friend. He genuinely cares for his clients and fights for what is right. In the end he got us an amazing settlement. One thing that stuck out through the whole process was not just how much he cared or how well he made sure we were updated every step of the way but at the end he made sure that he didn’t let up on the other side and he negotiated a deal that was fair for us. I would recommend him to anyone. You couldn’t get a better lawyer who will fight for what you deserve.

Had been looking for an attorney for almost a year , talked to so many but all of them would either be so arrogant, make you feel stupid and wouldnt even listen to me thats why i couldnt believe i found attorney andrew that was such the opposite of all these attorneys and he listens to you, I cant even believe up to this day that i got so lucky getting across attorney andrew. He was my last hope… always available to listen to me and responds right away , always communicates with me. I got a settlement on my case and honestly its not even about the money its more of how attorney andrew was very compassionate and really made a mark on my life. I will forver be grateful to him. thank you attorney andrew walkon your the best! people like you will always be blessed. thank you again!!!!

He sent us a job as a process server and paid the invoice without reading it and expected us to do the job in an additional location. After our office took the time to process the job, enter the job in our system and get it assigned, he wanted his money back when he found someone cheaper, threatening to file a grievance against us.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Capistrano Beach, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
