I was extremely nervous to start the bankruptcy process and look for a lawyer. I have had bad experiences with lawyers in the past. I narrowed it down to two lawyers by researching the internet. Jeff Larkin was the second lawyer I met with and he instantly impressed me with his knowledge about the different types of bankruptcy and what would be a good option for me. After answering a series of questions about my financial history he explained what would be a choice for me and the steps needed to get the rid of my debt quickly. Through the whole process he was always quick to return a email or phone call when I had a question . He also kept me at ease by explaining every step of the process and keeping me informed of what to expect next. Let's just say my husband and I did not expect to have to ever file for bankruptcy! But life can throw you unexpected challenges! We found New Chapter Law Group on Yelp. It was already a little past 6 pm, but I decided to give them a call, and maybe leave a message or find some info they might have on their answering machine. But I did not have to do either, because they picked up! AFTER HOURS! Krisitin answered and was so pleasant, which put us at ease right away. They set up an over the phone interview with us, and totally worked around our schedules, without any hesitating. All the information was given to us in a way we could understand simply. Before we started the process, bankruptcy seemed like such a "monster" of a word. But both Kristin and Nik made it sound so simple. Which was almost weird at first, because we kept expecting something to go wrong! But nothing ever went wrong. They were there for us every step of the way. Their replies were always prompt, helpful and a relief. Whatever worry we had, they put at ease. If we emailed them at midnight, we typically saw a reply by the morning. And the best part was, they even had a sense of humor all the way through. It was not uncommon to read replies and laugh! Which lightened everything up too! Our story echoes others here.
