Hannah is AMAZING, she was very professional, and actually cared about our case as oppose to other attorneys that just look at you as a dollar sign! She was very patient, and answered all of our questions promptly, and understood the stress and how neurotic I am. If you want an attorney that will take care of your case as if we’re her own, make sure that you hire her! Thank you Hannah!!!

We couldn't ask for more in terms of service, advice, cost, and flexibility. We had a trust and other documents that were 14 years old. Of course, things had changed dramatically for our family, including grandchildren. And, we honestly didn't understand our dated documents. We found Hannah through Yelp. She was highly rated. And, her military service, education, and community service sealed the deal in terms of contacting her. We scheduled our free consultation and brought with us all of our documents. We spent well over an hour with Hannah where we discussed our concerns, asked a lot of questions, and received answers that we could actually understand. At the conclusion of the session, we felt very comfortable that Hannah was the right lawyer to help us update our documents. We learned about how the laws had changed and Hannah reviewed all of our documents and also advised us on which assets should be included in the trust. She provided us with several alternatives for achieving our goals. She then committed to a timeframe when the updated documents would be ready for review. We had several email exchanges during the course of her updating the documents. And, once she delivered draft documents to us, we changed our minds in several areas and we provided Hannah with our requested changes. We fully expected her to request additional monies and made that offer, but she declined to increase the bill. Once the final documents were completed, we met in her office with her notary and signed all of the documents. And, she was patient in answering a few more last minute questions/clarifications. Without hesitation, I would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone needing legal services. She is personable, smart, patient, flexible, and reasonable. Why would you want to go to anyone else when Hannah can meet and exceed your expectations?

We consulted with Hannah Sargent to update our very old Trust documents. She patiently listened to us, and answered our many questions, both in person and via email. We never felt rushed or "talked down" to. Documents were conveniently sent in email for our review.

I had the pleasure of working in the same office as Hannah Sargent for just over a year and am writing this review to assure those in need of an attorney that Hannah delivers only the highest quality work. It was common for clients to enter her office feeling concern or worry and leave knowing their case was going to be handled competently by someone with integrity who understood their situation. Hannah is rare in that while being an expert in the legal field she also understands the human side. I would recommend Hannah to any friend or family member without reservation.

I met Ms Hannah in 2008 at Berkley Law Center where she was volunteering her time . Brachfeld & Associates, a collection law firm filed Lawsuit against me in Dec 2008. They were representing TSYS/Natonal Attorney Network. TSYS (Total System solutions) is the debt collection servicing company for Capital One, who assigns attorney through their National Attorney Network to file Lawsuit against debtor. Ms Hannah helped me to write my response to the lawsuit free of cost since she was volunteering . Her response was so effective that Brachfeld and Associate didn't even dare to go to court and case was dismissed. Later she helped me to write all 3 Credit Bureas informing them of the lawsuit and removal on Capital one account from my Credit report . Later I posted a video on You Tube about my success with monster Capital One so that others can benefit. As of today this video has 12609 views and received so many questions from viewers how I did that. I have also created a Facebook page and Blog regarding this Lawsuit so that others in my situation don't get panic when they get summons from court. I wish him all success in her profession. Kimberly Leding is a wonderful attorney that listened to my concerns and was confident, positive and supportive. She made the experience one that I learned from. I have a new appreciation for a professional who puts in genuine effort as well as understands the unforeseen complications that can arise during a legal proceeding. Kimberly provided insightful information that helped me understand the legal process. She was always available and was consistently prepared when opposing counsel was not. She has acquired a lifetime client and respect and admiration for a job well done.

My husband and I hired Kimberly and her firm to assist us in getting a Contract canceled and return of funds. The firm, and Kimberly specifically, were very professional, prompt and on top of all issues that arose. I was never concerned that our case was on the back burner and all emails and calls were returned in a timely fashion. I would definitely contact Kimberly again if the need presented itself.

Kim Leding helped our family with the Conservatorship of my Sister. My sister has special needs and is not able to navigate everyday life on her own. We met with Kim who came highly recommended and she did NOT disappoint. She was so patient and kind with all of us. She took the time to explain everything to us even when we asked her the same questions 10 times LOL. Every year we have to file additional paperwork with the courts and Kim is always on top of it. If I could give her a 10 Star rating I would. Thank you Kim for taking such good care of us!!

Linda P guided me a to z through my role as trustee for 3 family trusts, 2 of which are now completed after the deaths of their namesakes. I'd recommend her without any reservation to family having legal trust needs, including their creation and subsequent state and federal filings.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Castro Valley, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
