I contacted the office and I was immediately connected with Jeffrey. He immediately heard my issue and started to provide advice on my situation without asking for anything from me. We ended the call the same way too, just asked where I had heard of his office.

We had ongoing issues with our Landlord and we were referred to Jeffrey by a friend and we are so thankful that we were. They took care of getting all repairs done and also got us a large sum settlement that none of us expected. Their team is very knowledgeable, friendly and professional. I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for help when their landlords are not performing. Joe

Attorney Asidi was a pleasure to work with, when we were t-boned in an intersection. Not only did he carefully outline our options, and his methodology, he also advocated endlessly for us, helping us secure a fair settlement. We're super grateful. Will recommend him over and over again.

Recommendation for Mr. Mark as an Exceptional Family Lawyer I am writing to express my utmost satisfaction and gratitude for the exceptional legal services provided by Mr. Mark in handling my recent divorce case. It was truly a pleasure to do business with Mr. Mark, and I am delighted that he represented me throughout the entire process. His depth of knowledge and expertise in family law were evident from the outset, and he consistently provided me with invaluable legal advice that guided me through this challenging time. One of the things that stood out to me about Mr. Mark's approach was his ability to cut through the complexities of the case and get straight to the heart of the matter. He was always honest and transparent, never hesitating to tell me whether it was worth fighting for certain aspects or not. Furthermore, I was impressed by the clarity and transparency of Mr. Mark's billing statements. Each statement provided a detailed breakdown of the services rendered, making it easy for me to understand and track the costs involved. I was referred to Mark by an attorney on a related matter as a trusted partner to discuss my concerns and current situation. Before I was able to reach out to his office, he called me directly and asked questions to assess the landscape and provide a recommendation on how to proceed. He was unusually patient and thorough in his analysis, both speaking in simplified, non-Legalese terms without being reductive; realistic and objective without salesmanship. As a working professional, I deeply appreciated his 360° approach. He additionally, without request, gave me thoughtful pointers that were directed toward not only how to position myself for a positive outcome, but in the best interests of creating a productive plan forward for myself and my family. While it currently remains as a consult, he will be the attorney I will call when it's time.

Mr. Dennis Hershewe made a big difference in my life with his professionalism in handling my case. Thank you Dennis for taking my case. It made a difference in my life when I was serious down and made homeless. His staff always kept me informed on my case and provided information needed to proceed through my case in a timely manner. His staff set me up with great doctors who always treated me with the utmost high quality in care. Mr. Hershewe is a tough, no nonsense attorney who didn't let big insurance companies lawyers dominate the case. He is highly respected by his peers in his field. It's been over 7 years since settling my case. I've had plenty of time to reflect upon my experience of going through this traumatic experience that I went through. I highly recommend this law firm. They made a difference in my life. Thank you very much Michael & Cilla Hughes

Mr. Hershewe is a very good attorney. He is very knowledgeable and the best part, he is HONEST. He doesn't get back to us as much as we'd like but he does follow up with us via mail every time there is an update, change or if he has scheduled something regarding my case. He is extremely aggressive and that is what one would love to see in an attorney. I'd recommend him to anyone.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Chatsworth, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
