Rajesh has excellent understanding of the Visa & Immigration processes. He handled our case from L1A to Green Card with expertise and provided necessary guidance as required. Due to his deep experience, we were able to get our Green Card done within a year. He is extremely aware of the process/requirements and provides right recommendations always to keep things on the right track. Thank you very much Rajesh!!

Simply spectacular. My case: Non-tenure track faculty in science, with less than 10 publications and not many citations. Rajesh helped me get I-140 approved in EB-1A (no RFE, no appeals)! Of course, my application was strong but that is because he went out of his way to help me dig things out in innovative ways to make it strong. His understanding of what actually matters is extraordinary. I had contacted him and several renowned EB-1A law firms (used by many of my friends) about 2 years back. When most were nervous of taking my case in EB-1A, (highlighting things like non-tenure track position, publication count, citation count etc), it was Rajesh who gave me a LOT of confidence for self-petitioning in EB-1A or NIW. I was still nervous given what other law firms told me. I worked to improve my portfolio a bit. At this point, other firms felt I could “perhaps” make it, but it was Rajesh who spoke to me at length on the phone multiple times (even though I had not retained him, nor paid him anything at all) and gave me *HIS confidence once again to file for EB-1A. I then decided to retain him and his partner Bindi Parikh at Parikh and Prasad PC. Both are gem of individuals and are very efficient. I highly recommend Parikh and Prasad for immigration matters. After he began working on my case formally, I noticed his way of handling elements (in my case) that were potentially appearing negative to other firms (such as low publications/citation counts) for a EB-1A filing. I commend him for his deep understanding of the regulations that helped him (and me!) prepare a strong application and get an approval in one attempt on what others had brushed off as a “weak” application. A note to potential EB-1A/NIW applicants: Attorneys are experts in regulations, not your field. You are the expert of your field. It is essential that *you think very-very hard about how to bring out the nuances and significance of your work—be it papers or things you have done—and present it to your attorney. Thank you Rajesh for making such a humongous difference to my life and that of my family. Last but not the least, it is really really nice talking to him. He is so down to earth that you won’t be able to tell he is such a distinguished and highly accomplished attorney.

Janice is very professional and efficient. My waiting for the green card was getting longer due to covid, but Janice is so patient and friendly, provides clear explanation every time, and even helped me to track and file with the dept., which really helped a lot to release my anxiety. I compared my experience with Janice to my friends’ lawyer and we found Janice is truly outstanding so I highly recommend.

Attorney Lin is an exceptional lawyer with a lot of experience. She works the best for my case and make clear guidance for the immigration application process which fits my interest and qualification based on my professional experience and skills. I highly recommend her and the firm! She is dedicated and trustworthy as she continued to follow up the documentation preparation and advise me with necessary information that was beneficial for my case. She assists me with necessary information and tracks the status in timely manner since in 2020 the immigration review process seems not processing on track and those efforts enabled my case to be successful. I am grateful for attorney Lin’s professional assistance on acquiring the outcome and make my dream come true!

Kevin helped my wife and I setup a Trust recently. He not only completed every item quicker than we expected, he also added certain items to protect us in ways we didn’t even expect. He explained everything in a simple manner to where my wife and I had few questions for him. Everything was organized in a manner that is simple and very straightforward. I would 100% recommend him for any of your tax and estate planning needs. We are setting up an LLC with him next and expect everything to go very smoothly. Thank you Kevin!

I had questions about my inheritance taxes and setting up a will. Kevin explained estate and gift taxes to me and helped me figure out that wasn't much of a concern. He explained things in a way I could understand and didn’t try to scare me like other attorneys had. I ended up setting up a trust with him and will be back whenever I have an issue.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Chino Hills, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
