Changes contract. Puts clients on ice. Pushes clients to accept settlements. Is not helpful when dealing with law enforcement. Doesn't give you the entire case files. Plays games that puts your case and even your life in jeopardy. Read my string of Yelp Reviews.

I am so grateful to Mr. Paris my attorney for getting me much more than I ever expected to receive!!! I was involved in a hit and run accident and although I was in pain I was not going to seek legal representation believing it would be a waste of my time. Well I have never been so wrong before in my life and I happy for it. I am so thankful my husband contacted Mr. Paris on my behalf and I went in for a consultation, because I ended up needing back surgery and lost my job. My main goal was to be pain free and off medication so I went forward with the surgery. Mr. Paris was always available to me anytime I had questions or concerns. Whenever I called or emailed he always responded promptly. He even helped me obtain funds that I needed to pay for my health insurance deductible prior to my surgery that I would otherwise would have not been able to obtain. It has been a little over three months since my surgery and I am now pain free and although I lost my job, I do not have to worry because I honestly can say from experience I hired the best attorney around. Mr. Paris fought for me to get me everything I was entitled to receiving. I have been awarded a total of $100,000 and I could not have done that without the help of Mr. Paris and his law firm. I feel like I was given a second chance in life! I can now seek employment locally or even go back to school without worrying how I am going to pay for my living expenses. I will be forever grateful to Mr. Paris and his law firm and without a doubt I would recommend Mr. Paris to all my family and friends.

Eric Paris is an awesome Attorney!! Mr. Paris and his office team are professional and incredibly experienced. I had four attorneys turn me away (one attorney hung up on me without hearing the details). Although I had a confirmed injury that I was suffering from, all four attorneys said it was a losing case and too difficult to prove . I was referred to Mr. Paris and he did not hesitate to take my case. He won my case quickly and I received a great settlement. I will refer Mr. Paris to anyone that has a Personal Injury!! He will take care everything for you! Don't hesitate to call him!

Kevin helped my wife and I setup a Trust recently. He not only completed every item quicker than we expected, he also added certain items to protect us in ways we didn’t even expect. He explained everything in a simple manner to where my wife and I had few questions for him. Everything was organized in a manner that is simple and very straightforward. I would 100% recommend him for any of your tax and estate planning needs. We are setting up an LLC with him next and expect everything to go very smoothly. Thank you Kevin!

I had questions about my inheritance taxes and setting up a will. Kevin explained estate and gift taxes to me and helped me figure out that wasn't much of a concern. He explained things in a way I could understand and didn’t try to scare me like other attorneys had. I ended up setting up a trust with him and will be back whenever I have an issue.

Ms. Al-Chalati demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, right away she began to build not just a client-attorney relationship, but one where trust was the key factor. She did this by always speaking with me in terms that I could understand. Always clarifying why and when certain things needed to be said, written or materials produced. She expressed concern for me as a person always challenging me to look at the outcome with reasonableness. She allowed me to express what I wanted and she promptly educated me on what would need to be done for that to happen. I trusted her when she explained strengths and weakness of my case. In any question I asked of her she would always provide meaningful feedback and act upon it appropriately. Ms. Al-Chalati was a warrior when it came to analytical and research skills, she worked tirelessly spending many evenings and weekends preparing documents for the case. I know this because she made herself available to me, and I never had to bug her for attention. I would receive calls back from her even on weekends and often within minutes from the time I would ask a question. She was always available for phone conferences at my convenience, not her own. She involved me in the creation of a resolution without placing her opinions above mine. She kept my best interest at the forefront by advising and walking me through the process in a manner that I understood, always concerned about my emotional, physical, or financial interest over litigation. During mediation Ms. Al-Chalati’s skill as a negotiator was remarkable. Here she consistently demonstrated her ability to make wise decisions, take sensible risks and implement fair solutions when met with challenges. She conveyed wisdom and experience as she managed expectations selectively using leverage to help guide a resolution. Legal fees did not become a barrier to a settlement in my case. She delivered on her promise, I got a fair result, and most importantly I felt good about my outcome. Thank You Ms. Al-Chalati!

Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Chino Hills, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
