This is to express my deep thanks and appreciation for attorney Scott Glovsky. Although Mr. Glovsky is extremely busy handling health care denial appeals against major health insurers across California, he nonetheless took the time to consult with me in depth over a complex matter involving a health insurer's denial of a medically necessary prescription drug denial to a family member. In addition to Mr. Glovsky's undeniable legal expertise, he is a genuinely nice person, extremely pleasant and easy to talk to. He is a good listener and quickly grasped the situation and gave me terrific helpful advice. I am an attorney myself, and I have met many attorneys over my career. I must say that Scott Glovsky is a real role model whom more members of our profession should emulate. While some other attorneys may technically know the law in this field, in this age of robots, it is refreshing to meet a real and caring human being who happens to also be a skilled attorney with Mr. Glovsky's expertise. I therefore highly recommend attorney Scott Glovsky to any consumer in California who is suffering from the effects of a health insurance company's potentially wrongful denial of a benefit that they believe that they are entitled to! Sincerely, and with gratitude, Carole Kahn, Attorney at Law

The experience that I have had with this office has been absolutely incredible. I had brain surgery in January of 2023. Since my surgery, I have had numerous issues arise; from problems with my insurance plan, to incorrect hospital billing, to the lack of proper care by healthcare providers, as well as continued severe headaches and other neurological symptoms post-surgery. The past year has been a very trying time for me; I have really struggled. During this whole ordeal, there have been only a few professionals who have genuinely appeared to care about the situation I have been stuck in, and who have gone out of their way to try to help me; two of these individuals being Mr. Scott Glovsky and his assistant, Mr. Bruce Kaimo. It is has been so refreshing to be able to have encounters with such kind and ethical people, especially since I was beginning to wonder if these types of people still exist. My first encounter with this office was months ago when I was struggling with medical insurance issues. I spoke with Mr. Glovsky’s assistant Bruce, who was very thorough and professional. He explained to me that I had an employer-funded ERISA insurance plan, and even though their office was not able to provide assistance with these types of plans, Mr. Glovsky was still willing to have a phone consultation with me. When I spoke Mr. Glovsky, he spent the full 15 minutes of the consultation providing me with information about my insurance plan, and explained to me the next steps I should take to attempt to resolve the issue. This was a free consultation; he was aware, going into the call, that he was not going to profit off of my situation, but still chose to help me anyway. This is a sign, to me, of a person who is of very high moral character. I recently contacted his office again, after a year of struggling, inquiring about the medical situation I am in. His assistant, Bruce Kaimo, responded back to me and was extremely helpful in providing me with information as to how I should proceed. Based on the experiences I have had, I would not hesitate to recommend this law office to anyone who is seeking legal assistance. If only they took cases in the area of practice that I am looking for, they would be my first choice. I trust them and their advice.

My husband and I reached out to Scott for some advice on what we thought would be a pending lawsuit. He reviewed what we sent him and was able to give us terrific advice and great verbiage to use in our letter. With his help it didn't reach the lawsuit stage. We are grateful for his advice. And if needed would not hesitate to reach out to him in the future.

When I seek information or advice regarding employment or civil litigation issues, there is one attorney that I know I can count on - Alan Leahy of The Leahy Law Firm. Over the years he has consistently met and exceeded my expectations, with thoughtful and helpful legal advice and recommendations. I also have wholeheartedly referred my friends to him and they have been equally impressed by his attention to detail, level of knowledge and professionalism. Great attorney! Great law firm!

As business owners, we are often faced with legal matters that can detract us from other business purposes. When such matters have arisen in my company, I have had the good fortune of being able to have my own legal team, Alan J, Leahy and his staff at the Leahy Law Firm, APC. Alan's knowledgeable experience and cost-benefit analytical approach has consistently delivered effective results. Throughout the years, Alan has proven to be a formidable advocate and legal representative of our company. His knowledgable experience and immediate responsiveness, has enabled me and my company to stay focused on business. Being able to reply and trust counsel to advocate and advise my partners and I, whether the issues are corporate or in litigation, has been a valuable asset to my company.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Claremont, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
