I felt Sam listened to everything I had to say. She sought to understand where I was coming from and what I needed. I felt like she advocated for me every step of the way. One thing I appreciated about her the most was her honesty and her frankness. If something I requested or was inquiring about would end up costing me more in attorney fees than what I was asking for, she was very honest about that. She took my financial situation into consideration and made sure to do everything she could to make the process as affordable for me as possible. Although attorneys are not cheap, regardless of how they are representing you, I wholeheartedly appreciate the efforts she made to keep my costs low. One thing I would recommend, as the client, is to read over all documents, settlements, requests, and other items in writing and check for misspellings and grammatical errors because I did see quite a few of those. Aside from that, I feel at peace knowing I had Sam representing me throughout my divorce. Her confidence and knowledge of laws surrounding divorce provided me with even more comfort in choosing her as my representation. I would recommend Sam to anyone going through a divorce who needs to feel safe, listened to, and advocated for.

I was blown away by the professionalism, trustworthiness and knowledge my attorney, Jeremy Roark, displayed throughout representing me during my divorce. His passion for the law and his desire to advocate for his clients is exactly what I was looking for and needed while going through my divorce with my ex. My ex tried to lie about our finances, our business, and some assets we had together and Jeremy was able to catch each discrepancy AND prove numerous things wrong on numerous occasions. Jeremy also has a way of communicating and breaking down what is going on in your case in ways that are easy to understand while sharing with your his plan of action so you’re well informed throughout the process as well. If you need a “numbers” guy (someone to break down assets, finances, custody, business)- Jeremy is your guy!  If you need any type of assistance with your custody battle- Trust me when I say, Jeremy is your guy! If you need someone who knows the law inside and out or will get you the answers to all of your questions- Jeremy Roark is your guy!  My ex husband tried to take everything away from me (finances, time with my kids, business) and I truly think that if I had chosen any other attorney, he could’ve gotten away with a lot of the snake moves! I will be forever grateful Mr. Roark represented me.

About two years ago the attorney Sharon M. Anderson assisted in the development of our family trust. At that time she informed us that a minor modification of the trust would be less than $100. About 6 months ago I contacted the firm regarding a very minor modification and was told that she no longer works there. I was told that the firm had restructured and that just to speak with an attorney by phone would be $250, and that would not include the modification. I chose not to pursue it. Today I attempted to reach Mr. Holstrom regarding my concern about the cost and being mislead. I was referred to another assistant. I was informed that there are now free consultations, but any modifications would probably be around $500. Lesson learned: Get it in writing.

I found Holstrom Block & Parke online and scheduled a consultation with Kristen Holstrom who assigned me to Attorney Samantha McBride. Not having any previous experience with family court, I found it important to work with an attorney who was passionate, forward and a high-level thinker as my children are the most important to me. My journey took about 8 months and from start to end, Samantha was always communicative, informed, empathetic, diligent and so much more. When dealing with an ongoing case (especially out of state), it takes an emotional toll on you so it's important to have the right team behind you. Samantha was detailed and took note of our countless calls/emails, she came fully prepared each time to court hearings & made sure I too was prepared but always leveled my expectations. Anytime I had questions or concerns, I received responses quickly and was never left in the dark (even after hours). Both Sam and Margo Emil responded to my emails promptly and drafted multiple correspondence to opposing counsel for urgent matters, immediately. Court and custody battles can be extremely stressful and draining but Sam constantly reassured me that everything would be okay and advocated for me and my son. I consulted with Ms. Wheeler Hoff and I highly recommend you consult with her. She is a smart attorney and had strong ideas on how to assist with my case. I ended up hiring a different attorney for reasons unrelated to Ms. Wheeler Hoff's impressive consultation. She is knowledgable and very strong.

I retained this firm in April 2019 to represent me after my pathological liar of an ex and the vindictive attorney representing her put in a renewal request for lifetime DVRO based on her being scared amongst several other false allegations to further alienate me from our 1.5 year old son and prevent me from EVER having a normal relationship with our son. Dayn Holstrom and his staff agreed to a "free consultation" and convinced me they could help by assigning me to one of the most expensive attorneys in the firm Matthew Bogosian CFLS and the most expensive paralegal in the firm Christie Kaiser, I guess the look of desperation on my face made me an easy mark in their eyes. Come to find out this free consultation cost me $1500. I didn't say anything about the fee because I assumed they could actually help me. After 2 continuances and over 20k+ in fees we finally went to trial in August 2019. I had provided documentation and facts to the firm to represent me in a competent manner. Low and behold right before trial I'm approached by Matthew Bogosian asking me to stipulate to a 5 year DVRO, to which I refused and was completely disappointed on why I even retained the firm. Cross examination of opposing party was pitiful. Direct examination of me was equally pathetic. Only 1 objection was proffered by Matthew. I could immediately tell Matthew was completely unprepared to represent me which was reflected in the renewal of the DVRO. I was better off representing myself and completely regret retaining this firm. Complete waste of money with no results whatsoever. This firm will nickle and dime you for everything yet they don't care about your children, you, or your situation as I quickly found out. Shortly after the trial I was informed the firm needed more money from me, at that point I fired them. Again complete waste of money.

I hired Melissa for my divorce and family law case involving my young son for custody. She was the first lawyer that I ever had, so I walked in not knowing what was coming. From day one she was amazing and made me feel comfortable in a way in which I am usually not with first time meetings with anyone. I am a combat veteran with PTSD and this was the first time that I felt at ease as fast as I did when meeting someone new. Throughout the whole two year process she was instrumental in keeping me cool during hearings and very good at keeping me grounded. One of her best qualities as a lawyer in my opinion was how straightforward she was when I was being hard to handle. There was more than one occasion where she pulled me aside, or called me to cool me down when things did not go our way in the beginning, but she always said to play the long-game and to trust her. She was amazing at explaining everything to me that was going on, and even though I would sometimes ask for the same thing repeated over and over, she stayed professional and always helped me understand exactly what was going on with what the judge ordered, and with legal documents, and things I needed to sign. She told me to trust her on day one of meeting her, and I did, I now have my son with full legal and physical custody and everything she told me would happen, actually did. I am grateful that Melissa was my lawyer and she has been instrumental in the success that I now have reached in life. I wish her all the best and hope she helps others as much as she helped me and my son.

In the latter part of 2019, after 6 great years of co-parenting with my ex, we were at a crossroads. My ex wanted to move with our son and remove him from his school in my neighborhood, which had already commenced. Our son did not want to move, nor did he want to change schools, so I knew I had to fight for him. I retained Melissa's firm at the time and she immediately dug deep into my case. She was experienced, intelligent, hard-working, tough, and always available to answer my calls or e-mails. I appreciated the fact that she was honest and reputable. I immediately got the sense that she would not simply tell me what I wanted to hear, but that she would lay it out straight. She learned the ins and outs of my relationship with my ex, as with many such cases, my ex began to make baseless claim. She became an expert of sorts in my work schedule, my custodial time with my son, child support payments I had made throughout the years, etc. In some aspects, she knew my life as well as I did, and I appreciated this dedication. Melissa was caring, thoughtful, personable, relatable, and an overall, excellent human being. As we prepared for trial, she really dug deep and I saw the effort she put into ensuring we were ready to put our best foot forward and come out with a positive verdict. In the end, months later, we did receive a positive verdict and the court ruled that our case was a move away case and that my ex was not allowed to remove our son from his school. This was one of the most trying, and traumatic, incidents of my life. I am glad that I entrusted my family in the hands of Melissa for this legal process. She has my sincere recommendation to anyone who may read this.
